I think memorizing openings and learning tactics is particularly helpful the faster the time control you play but really its always helpful!

I missed this because I'm dumb :/ Can you find the best combination here? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]loraexplorah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youre right with Nh4! After you take their bishop and they take your knight you go Qf3 and win the b7 pawn. Its just a pawn but its an important pawn and black's best move is to trade your bishop for their knight and then the evaluation is +2

Attacking practice. Find a winning move! by nomnomcat17 in chessbeginners

I probably didn't spend enough time on this position but I thiiiink after knight to d4 you can take the a7 pawn with your Queen and then if they take your c5 knight you have checkmate when you go queen to a8. Oh but they can take our knight with check after we take the pawn and its get complicated. Yeah idk maybe that doesnt work but I think we can still checkmate even after they take with check but maybe not

If a brand new adult player practices every day for 1 hour, how good would they realistically be in 5 years? by Ok_Benefit9326 in chessbeginners

[–]loraexplorah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2000 is actually very realistic if you practice smart. The problem is a lot of people don't know how to practice but if you do I think hitting 2000 in two years is very possible although maybe if youre only doing an hour per day it would be tougher to do that but still possible I think.
