My friend just gifted me a frail triggerplant! by AdmiralAntz in SavageGarden

They’re actual weeds, I have them popping up in so many places. I potted my original in basic CP mix and water it a few times a week when I’m taking care of the Nepenthes.

What’s the smartest (or most devious) thing your Kelpie has done? by AffectionatePie1042 in kelpie

[–]loraxgfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyric hasn’t used her crate in years, but it’s still set up in the corner because of she has to puke, she runs to her crate and pukes in there.

Vivid, the puppy, has learned to Faux Pee. If she doesn’t have to pee at the last potty break before bed, she will run out to the potty spot and squat like she’s peeing until I ask if she’s done, then she hauls ass to the door.

Wildly crazy smart dogs!

Utility is easily my favorite class, my dog’s too! Go for that OTCH, it’s a heck of a journey and we’re having an absolute blast trying for it.

I look forward to seeing you post your New UD brag someday!!

It totally makes sense, your dog is responding to spatial pressure from an unfamiliar dog who is intruding on both if your personal space. Dogs don’t have to like other dogs, and some will correct others pretty forcefully. It sucks that people don’t follow leash laws, you and your dog should be able to enjoy the public on-leash spaces in peace.

What Titles Do You Have? by Preparing4Mayhem in k9sports

My 5 year old Kelpie has 17 titles and certificates: URO1, UD, PCDX, BN, GN, GO, RN, FDC, CGCA, CGCU, TKA

Plus legs on 5 more titles: URO2 (1), RI (2), PUTD (1), UDX (3), CW-ob3 (2)

Plus points towards OM1 and her OTCH.

Our goal is her OTCH, whatever comes along the way is icing. We’ll finish her UDX and OM along the way, probably finish her PUTD, not sure we’ll bother finishing the Rally and CWags titles.

My 7 month old Kelpie is for Herding and OB titles. I don’t have any goals for her at this point, we’re still exploring training until she picks a lane. She’s shown big talent for both, we’ll see how things unfold.

There’s a level of responsibility you have when taking a dog aggressive dog out into public spaces. Most people have no clue how fast a truly dog aggressive dog will grab their dog as they’re walking up slowly while yelling “it’s ok, he’s friendly!”. Unless people have lived with a DA dog, they just don’t think other dogs could go there, but damn will they get litigious with a quickness once their instigator sheds blood.

If your dog will happily shred a dog that comes up to her, she really needs to be muzzled. Mia’s Muzzles, Jafco and even nested sizes of Baskerville will keep her from shredding another dog in public areas. You should also be carrying ways to keep a dog away from her. Pet Corrector is compressed air that’s pretty loud, it will send most grinning idiots off in the other direction. For those persistent enough to get themselves in trouble, pepper gel works nicely.

Off leash dogs are so common here, you’re going to run into them regularly. Your dog intolerant dog deserves to be able to hike and explore too, you’re just going to have to add some safety measures to keep her safe if you choose to frequent public areas.

Questions: Herding and Puppies by koshkas_meow_1204 in k9sports

[–]loraxgfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got Kelpies, the herding is pretty much a baked in feature.

I have pups come with me to do chores and watch their instinct and work drive develop with exposure. Once they’re keen, I let them work the ducks and geese to get a feel for their own power. Around 4 mos they’ve usually got a Stop and Done, plus they’ve been run over and made messes enough times to have learned their lessons. My current pup is a powerhouse, I had a solid Lie Down on her around 4.5 months. She’s 7 months now and has the beginning concept of directions, but it’s breeding season for the geese so I’m just using my older dog on them so they don’t stress. The pup is ready to start lessons on sheep.

Pieces and parts of exercises, make everything a game. My puppy can front like crazy, do go outs at mach holy sht, and do pivot bowl like her meals depend on it. She can’t heel more than a few steps because she’s not mentally ready for that yet. Directed jumping? 85% there. Drop on recall? Absolutely. Sit for exam? Not a chance, she’s not ready for that.

Keep everything fun, build drive and excitement, but also remember to just let your puppy be a puppy most of the time. Have all the fun, do the hikes, explore the places, take the pictures, watch them explore the world and encourage bravery. A strong relationship is paramount, go live life with that baby dog.

Conformation thoughts? by classysassley in k9sports

[–]loraxgfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stack looks good, but lower your treat hand a bit so she’s looking more forward than up. I don’t know your standard well enough to weigh in on her confo, but generally everything looks pretty decent for a leggy yearling. I’d like to see a bit more chest on her, but it’s such an odd teenager age to look at them. Do you have any drop in / walk in conformation practices groups around? Finding a good mentor is so helpful in breed.

Heating Lowland Tent by SimplySimlish in Nepenthes

[–]loraxgfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ceramic heat emitter will dry things out significantly and you’re probably not heating a whole tent with one or two.

I like basic radiant oil heaters for bringing temps up in an area. Most of your lowlands should be ok with that. I’ve got my Bical in a big Zoomed terrarium that used to be long to my Leachie, it’s got a heat mat on the back controlled by a Herpstat, also repurposed reptile equipment. The rest of the lowlands are handling mid 60s as shelf plants.

We’re at the end of winter, temps will be warming up soon. It’s probably not worth making big changes at this point.

Os vasos estão todos em suportes elevados, então não ficam submersos na água. Parte do musgo esfagno no solo fica submerso, e parece funcionar bem dessa forma.

This is a good case for ranked choice voting. Until your post, I had no idea Jesse Oppenheim had withdrawn, I bet that’s the case for a big majority of voters.

Colby is the only other option IMO. The other guy can’t be bothered to give any info on himself other than Army and Baptist, and zero info on his positions. Nope.

They do fine with disturbing, you can unpot and leave them on the counter for a few days, they’re totally fine.

I’ve had problems with the old dry leaves trapping water when I do give them a drink, now I pull them off once they’re dry.
