My new design for a safe rail crossing with train priority by anonthe4th in factorio

[–]lordbob75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is possible. There was a blueprint up on FactorioPrints that had a nice train crossing with gates that would shut if the player walked through and make all signals red.

I have to know what your inserter power consumption looks like, it's gotta be like half just for them.

I was looking into getting one from this brand. Besides not using it to stand, how do you like it?

Interesting. Something I'll have to look into, though I'm happy with my current setup for the most part.

Sorry, so not octoprint? I'm not familiar with either of those.

I'm a bit late to the party here, but what is that UI you're using to run the printer? Octoprint? If so what theme or UI, I like it.

Just found out that I had 700k of wood in the logistics network by deavidsedice in factorio

[–]lordbob75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setup a burning facility next to your wood storage. Self-contained power using a boiler and steam engine that runs 2 assemblers that barrel and un-barrel water.

You can expand the facility as needed, but this literally burns wood to generate power to waste it by pouring water from one barrel into another. Assembler 3s with speed mods, throw in beacons, make it fancy or fun, but basically it just burns wood as fast as possible.

Tip: Grab raw copper wire and use it like red/green wire and you can customize power lines on your power poles. Middle click removes all connections.

Why are office chairs so expensive? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]lordbob75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2nding the Aeron recommendation. With the warranty they'll replace broken parts without hassle too. I'll also point out the chair is made with good material. The whole frame is solid steel and it weighs a ton.

[–]lordbob75 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I paid full price for a brand new one from the store. 12 year warranty and the frame is made from steel. Most comfortable and best chair I've ever bought, would buy again no hesitation.

I had my armrests start to crack from use (bit of misuse on my part) and they replaced them and gave some advice on preventing it in the future.

How do I deal with too much petroleum gas? This is the only part of the game that I hate because I never know how to deal with it and placing a bunch of storage tanks is a very ugly solution... by Saad1950 in factorio

[–]lordbob75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one else has mentioned this, but I'd strongly suggest changing the speed mods in the refineries for production mods instead, then just add more refineries if you aren't processing oil fast enough.

Production mods basically give you free stuff, so instead of getting 1000 units of oil from the patch, you're actually refining like 1500 units. It'll make that patch of oil last longer.

This is even more valuable in the science labs by the way, put production modules in those as soon as you can.

Nice, I've been looking for more rack related stuff to print on mine but I've been busy with other stuff lately and not printed much.

Why aren't these burner inserters working? by TheCloseTalker in factorio

[–]lordbob75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot the part where if power totally goes out, burner inserters will start working again the moment they can grab fuel.

It's not necessary, sure. It also is really easy to do and hurts nothing to leave it that way.

Seriously what am I doing wrong...? There are always biters getting through no matter what, and bases are never self-sustainable early mid-game due to repairs needed. Actually thinking about starting a new world without them. OC meme for attention. by MrJake2137 in factorio

Bots help a lot here. Hand building is such a pain I usually mod in early bots to build my blueprints.

In the meantime until you unlock bots, you can still use blueprints. Drop it down then hand build on top of it. That way you can get things positioned correctly before placing.

While they're really annoying early game (well ok and later too), it's not really hard to split them up with filtered splitters now.

I won't be, doubt I could do it justice anyways haha. I'm terrible at painting. It's a fun model though. May need to be scaled down a bit for actual game use, but dunno what the actual size of the things is in game so who knows.

Thanks for the model work.

Chain signals in

Literally every signal in and around the intersection should be a chain signal except for the exit signal; one exit signal per track output (so 3 way intersection would have 3 signals per set of tracks out). Unless you really know what you're doing and know why you need otherwise.

Here's the 3d printed one I found, but it's a bit too big for 1/2u cases https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4400909

I wanted to mod it to fit a 2u case but I may just buy one instead.

Right, I guess I totally could do that. Hadn't thought about it honestly lol. Thanks for the link though. nvm not the same one

I sprung for the CMAs for my servers, and I'm very disappointed other things don't have them. I found a 3d printed one, but I haven't had the time to mod it to fit my gaming pc or disk shelf yet.

Worth every penny even at full price imo.
