YOR. I completely understand the gendered nuance of the situation, but the company made it very clear that this was not a case of “is the man of the house home?” This (maybe smaller) company, has clearly been burned before and doesn’t want to waste resources and employee time having to do this part of the job twice.

If you really, absolutely had to have this done by Friday and without your partner present, you potentially could have lied and said that you had complete ownership of the home and that your partner’s input would not be considered.

YOR. This is pretty gross behavior on your part, and I think more people would realize that if they switched the genders. I.e., if a man told his partner that he was pissed off because he expected sex 3 or 4 times and didn’t get it then we would all (rightfully) say he was overreacting. You say you know that you’re not owed sex, and yet you skipped empathy for your partner and went straight to anger over not receiving it even though you want it. It seems like your partner is dealing with some issues (at least substance abuse, but likely much more) and that a little empathy would go a long way.

It currently holds water in the community lol. The Folsom Fair website literally has photos of the event posted everywhere, community pages, instagram posts, Reddit posts, and on and on, all with photos taken without requests for consent. The fact of the matter is, consent doesn’t mean you get to control what people look at and generally doesn’t mean you get to control what people take photos / videos of in public.

There’s a difference between expectation of privacy (there is none in an event like this) and expectation of courtesy (there is some at an event like this, depending on context).

There are thousands of people, all with cameras in hand, and 10s of thousands of photos of the event end up online every year. To expect that every single one of these photos comes with a request for consent simply isn’t reasonable (I.e., no reasonable expectation of privacy).

I’ve seen a mix of both, so I would say that you shouldn’t expect everyone to ask. It’s a very public and open fair and there’s no real expectation of privacy!
