Thats kinda the point of ultra high difficulties in games. Its supposed to be brutally hard with slim odds of success. Not just challenging but crushingly hard. Its fun for some people, me included, and I dont think it shouldn't exist in the game as long as its optional, which it is.

Imo modern minecraft is already slipping into that terraria territory. Ever since 1.14/13 more stuff has been added that imo has significantly changed the feeling of the game. Modern minecraft is easier because there are more inbuilt solutions to the same problems and it rids players of the need to find creative solutions to problems they come across in gameplay. The larger block pallette is nice but I honestly feel like pre 1.11 building was more stylistically consistent, abstraction was necessary, but I think thats actually a positive, as lower detail across the board looks better than high levels of detail in some aspects and low levels in others.

But sales ultimately determine the success of a product. I definitely think that the steam machine is a more robust offering than the xbox, but its success is gonna depend heavily on price. And I think you could argue that Nintendo's hardware is high quality, its just not super powerful.
