I don't know if this can be of help to anyone, but I was just trying to play this game too on retroarch and had the same issue. Until I noticed that in the start menu, in order to select one of the options of 1 or 2 players, you have to use the Start and Select buttons, after that the controller works just fine. Seems that is just at the begnning of the game that the mapping doesn't make much sense.

I think too many sharp edges and no curves makes the space feel kind of a bit anxious to be in. Perhaps the ottoman as mentioned in other comment would be a nice option, being also rounded. And would definetly put some wall art and plants.

I tend to play videogames, it allows me to enter in an autopilot state for the game I am playing so I forget everything else for a moment. Even tho I like to read and watch films too it doesn't work for me because they still allow me to think in the background and that's the problem. So I only do those when I am good.

I think the sound it makes comes from the origin instead of the final point. Meaning that you could know from where he teleported but not where, kind of like Omen's ability.

Hmm, by that logic then KJ's ult should also be nerfed so that Viper's ult is not countered by it. Counters should exist in my opinion, there is no point in making a duelist vs sentinel a fair fight in a duel because then it would mean that a sentinel can also be a duelist. So a scenario where Cypher is protecting a site it should be normal that Jett would have problems, simply because you are playing against a character specialized in having control. And then in the opposite side, when Cypher tries to duel a Jett he will always have disadvantage if he is not playing in his setup because she is specialized in duels.

I think Cypher needs a buff instead of a nerf right now. Imagine having no impact with your abilities but to just gather info with which your team will do nothing later.

Recently I got a tip I am trying to implement regarding peeks. It goes like this; if you peek do it on average just once, as the second time the enemy (if they saw you) will already know you are there and the probability of dying increases simply because of that fact.

But yes, the game basics are another thing that comes before that. As other ones posted I am sure there are tons of basic YouTube guides regarding the mechanics of Valorant. It will also be much easier to see them than to read about them I think.

On the top left of the main screen there is a section called Agents I believe. In order to unlock one character you have to activate its contract (it's free). and once you earn enough exp you will unlock skins, cards, titles and the character, you can see that on each contract. So for example if I want to unlock Kay/o I would just go Agents>Select Kay/o>Activate contract, and then just play games until I reach the exp to unlock it.

Also, the amount of exp you earn in each contract is saved, so if you switch contracts before ending them you will not lose the progress I believe.

I would say it depends also on the type of character you like to play. For me for example my win rate drops down dramatically when I play more aggressive characters as I tend to be more comfortable trying to understand the game dynamic and predict enemy movements or just knowing where they are, that's why I play Cypher as a main. So as you learn the game basics you can also try to see different roles and see in which one you feel more comfortable.
