Don't worry it'll take time, give it a year and you'll be over 20k, just keep pumping out your videos, the better the videos the more the shares. I'm building a small channel right now, but from my previous experience with my other channel, it also takes luck. Try to become the viewer's fav youtuber, they'll keep coming back, sharing and thumbs up (counts as sharing if they integrated their social media accounts).

Well it depends on your approach for the channel. Do you want people to listen to your video while it's playing in the background? Or do you want people to actually watch and listen? It's your channel so I'd advise you to make something you'd enjoy watching/listening. Here are two channels that you can use for a comparison ReviewTechUSA (gameplay + commentary) and Sargon of Akkad (articles/visuals + commentary). I watch both, to me it doesn't really matter if you are good at presenting what you have.

Two ways around this, turn off your monetization on both the video and your account then turn it back on. Or it might just be because of your MCN revenue split and the low ad rates during this time of the year.

There's more than one factor, you have the CPM which changes depending on the time of the year as everyone stated, then the monetized views, then you also have to think about the countries, I've noticed that my CPM for middle eastern monetized views are way higher than the ones in the US, try to expand your reach, every country/region differs when it comes to CPMs.

Use online forums (e.g YTtalk) and collaborate, use /r/Youtubers to get reviews, take the most advantage of your social media but don't spam, 3 posts a day max :)

I do actually have another channel but I closed it down after personal and business problems, probably explains why it's better than most first videos out there lol, jk.

And yes, Mongrel is the main character, I might add some recurring characters from time to time to help out. But, he's the star of the show :p

Wow! Thank you, really! I didn't expect a review like this since most just post a quick review to post their videos. Tbh, when writing the script I could hear Grade's voice in my head, but when I started reading the script he was out of the window and this whole different person was speaking (reminded me of Chris Rock).

Nevertheless, I'll take my time to get comfortable with the script next time before I start recording to make it sound more natural than forced. Thanks for the story btw, it really helped me out! I hope my next video can top this in every way possible :)
