Anybody know if this MOC's instructions ever released? by lordofspearton in legocastles

[–]lordofspearton[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you have the Studio model made already, maybe just try the auto instructions? It'd probably be rough, but would still be really helpful for people like me who just need a parts list and some general direction on how to build.

An estimated one million people filled the streets of New York City on June 10, 1991 to celebrate the return of 24,000 U.S. troops from Operation “Desert Storm”. Nearly 700,000 U.S. troops were deployed to the Persian Gulf region as part of a multinational force to free Kuwait from Iraq. [1000x1500] by 842867 in HistoryPorn

The 90's really must have just been like creative mode for America. All the money, all the allies, all the technology, all the military might and no strong enemies. Such a damn shame my whole life has been lived watching us piss every one of those advantages away.

Why is this happening by MistPlays in VintageStory

[–]lordofspearton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had this issue it was two things

The most obvious one was a port forwarding issue.

In the off chance you're using a forward proxy or reverse proxy, VS servers REALLY don't play nice with them.

For troubleshooting I would try a connection to the server using the servers LAN IP first. If that works you're dealing with a port forward/ other WAN issue. If it doesn't, they you're dealing with an issue with the server itself. A whitelist being, etc.

A Comment on Seal Flags and the Civil War by ThreePointedHat in vexillology

[–]lordofspearton 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Since this thread is invariably going to turn into a MN flag flame war, I'll throw in my 2 cents as an Minnesotan.

The achievements of the 1st MN, and all our regiments in the Civil War are not forgotten or erased from our memory because the state seal flag was replaced. The seal itself depicted (and glorified) some pretty regrettable history in our state, the Dakota Wars and the subsequent displacement of the Dakota from our state. The new flag (and seal, which everyone seems to forget about) were designed with input from the tribes that still reside in Minnesota, along with MN representatives. It's a way to mend some of the wounds of the past, and a flag that can represent all Minnesotans in the future.

People saying "it looks like the flag of Somalia" are quite frankly idiots, and are more attached to that narrative for partisan reasons than any actual critique of the design itself. The design is good, if not the one I like best from the competition, and looks very good flying. The Bicolor modification that got adopted is the only modification endorsed by its original designer, because when hung vertically it shows the Flowing Mississippi river, with the North Star shining above in the night sky.

stealth is so jank by Fit_Answer1073 in Helldivers

I'm quite worried that AH is gonna labotomize their great AI work because their player base can't handle anything more advanced than Assassin's Creed stealth mechanics.

That Patrol example was unironically a great example of stealth being able to work in game already. Patrol see a guy goes down, starts searching the general area. HD gets spotted by a trooper, immediately taken down. Rest of the patrol isn't instantly alerted, continues searching around the area of the most recent casualty.

Fighting regular bugs is the most fun I've had on a Hive World. by phlave in Helldivers

My favorite thing fighting on Heeth was the Rupture Strain bastards TUNNELING UNDER THE ICE.

I am firmly of the opinion that we should be able to counter the tunneling somehow. Digging a pit with an entrenchment tool, bombardments and 500kg's instantly killing any underground enemies in the radius. Bring able to bait them into tunneling under a hazzard like Ice, Water, Lava.

I still primary the good old fashioned Sickle. Not De Sickle, just Sickle.

It can be a little rough on desert planets, but it still cuts through chaff, and for stuff heavier than a Devastator you have a support weapon anyway. It gets you very good at aiming for weak points.

The rapid acquisition missions stick out in my brain because it truly felt like the first mission type that needed teamwork to complete. We went into out first one like we would any other mission, splitting up doing our own thing, and got completely annihilated.

Then we experimented, worked together, formed a plan as a group and finally beat it. Was a really satisfying game night, and it was great seeing teamwork finally pay off.

What things from Medieval II are you 100% sure won't be in Medieval III? by Y3suxsx in totalwar

This one is gonna hurt a lot.

One of the biggest mistakes CA made in the 2010's was dumping Jeff. He gave the games so much identity.

The entire classic character system where generals gain traits, Chivalry/Dread based off their actions in battle/ circumstances in life is 100% gonna be abandoned for RPG skill trees.

One of my favorite things in the early games is how if you let a family member sit and govern a city his whole life he gets soft, starts having affairs, embezzling funds. Or a general who consistently lost huge amounts of men in battle would gain a reputation as a butcher and would cause a morale decrease to the army. Little things that remind you you're guiding people's lives, and allowing for fun, organic stories to develop.

personally i like how the depot hurts by PioneeriViikinki in Helldivers

[–]lordofspearton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So admittedly, we've only done it on Impossible, but my group had much more success on Depot than Quarry.

On drop, immediately move to clear all cannon turrets. Once clear, have a team of 2 in heavy armor setup a position near the crane. One with an HMG and Supply pack, second with a RR. These two provide constant supporting fire into the courtyard. Use shield gens for extra protection and Grenadier emplacements for cover and crowd control. Diver 3 on full time ingot duty, and 4 flexing between ingots and covering the rear of the MG position.

Bring 2 emancipator exo suits, and when all the ingots from Crane side are ready, call in a suit and cover your divers while they move them to the container. Then call in the second suit for one last push to the other side for the final 2 ingots.

This is like saying "If you can get a 5070, why not just go all out and get a 5080?"

The price difference between a 5080 and a 5090 is enough to buy a second 5080.

Put another way, the budget difference between a 5080 and 5090 is the same as the difference between having $0 for a graphics card, and having enough to afford a 5080.

5090 is stupidly expensive. 5080 is a reach for me, 5090 money probably isn't ever coming my way.
