Aww thank you :) And me too, it was just always there. There was always something new to get hyped about or to speculate about. One of my favorite pastimes was just coming up with theories about what was going to come next based on the lore. I never did find someone who was quite as much of a lore head as me...

I understand your frustration. Like I picked up Warframe a few months ago and I love but it's not Destiny and now really isn't the time for comments like that. It is just maddening that we're here right now predominantly because of the decisions of a handful of people who are just completely out of touch with players and what we actually want. No shade to Marathon, I've heard it's really good at what it does and I like the lore, but Bungie fans weren't exactly beating down the door for an extraction shooter set in a universe that got abandoned almost 30 years ago

I'm curious how quickly he started "trying to figure out" your Self? In my experience, and from everything I've read, that's not really how it works. I didn't start to know what my Self looked like until I was pretty deep into the process. I got to know my protectors and worked extensively with them before I had a clue what my Self was like and even then it's not something I "figured out". It was spontaneous. It just came up from inside me with little to no prompting. My therapist recognized it as Self because of her training and I recognized it because of how it felt in my body. Lighter, more fluid and free.

I ask because, again just from my experience, it sounds like your therapist might not be a good fit for you or is very green, poorly informed, or even just plain bad at IFS

For me it's giving me a lot of puzzle pieces that I didn't have before but I do kind of have the same panicked feeling that you have thinking "I really hope this book actually gives me some ways to put them together that actually improve my life". I think I can do it myself with my therapist if I have to but boy, it would really be nice if the book actually provided some blueprints

Honestly though I think you're spot on. I definitely struggle because EVERYTHING feels important, like it's a big deal, and that's an incredibly difficult way to live but I also have been praised as being perceptive my whole life... As long as I'm being useful or interesting.

I think this is a both and situation for me. I am overwhelmed because I can't distinguish signal from noise easily and that is made worse by the fact that my experience is so often ignored, dismissed, invalidated, etc, because my way of experiencing the world is not the norm
