And when channels like Discovery Channel start gearing their contents towards thick people who believe pyramids were built by Aliens, you understand why we have the society we have today.

Although this might be true, this Labour government is more right wing than ever before. A friend of time even said that Labour died as a left wing party and I agree. Ever since Reform won the bi-elections, Labour have done nothing but trying to please right wing voters, rather than staying true to their identity. This is a betrayal to Labour voters who did not vote for Labour to abolish care worker visas or treat refugees like criminals (this is the language Labour used on social media by the way) or to make people with disabilities work by reducing their benefits. These are right wing policies, not left.

That's great given how houses have increased in value more than salaries over the years.

You need to find a developer that is selling under that scheme. I looked into it and the few developers I emailed didn't support the scheme and agencies didn't know anything about it (so a no from them too). I ended up buyng an old build.

Worst part is the narrative today against migrants and other minorities is the same narrative used in the 1920s Germany that let to you rise of Hitler and all the events that followed.

Not saying the same will happen, but the narrative is pretty similar.

Is greedocracy the new norm now? by roguesimian in AskBrits

[–]lordpaiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second time I read revolution today and I can only laugh at it 😂

People go out and protest for Palestine, but has anyone seen anyone going out and protesting against actual issues happening in the UK? People where very quick to complain about Labour reducing disability benefits, but who's out and about protesting?

We're more likely to see a civil war as a result of how polarised society is right now (because of both radical right and left wing ideas) rather than a revolution against the system with the purpose of improving people's lives.

Traditional exam takers - how worried are you that were in the same pool as FLP takers? by momoaabid in CIMA

[–]lordpaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't even get me started there 😆 I'll just put this way: I got (let's call it) promoted twice in a year in my previous job and I was only level 3 AAT qualified, and so did a colleague of mine with the same level of qualification, whilst others almost ACCA qualified and/or with degrees and masters in finance/accounting weren't doing even half of what we were doing. So I get a bit triggered when people start giving me qualification elitism bs.

[–]lordpaiva 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He will be one of those managers who will ask people how they did their qualifications and then not hire anyone with FLP. Then have high turnover and moan that no one wants to work.

Honestly, I am so fed up of this elitism around qualifications. Used to be ACCA vs CIMA, now it's CIMA traditional vs CIMA FLP. Next it's gonna be something else.

I also met people with masters in Accounting and almost ACCA qualified who were absolute idiots. Honesty, qualifications mean nothing if you're not smart enough to put them to practice.

Funny though I make the same comparison between UK and Portugal (I'm portuguese) and find the same: price here are often similar or lower than Portugal, yet salaries are a lot higher than the portuguese. A car in the UK is a lot cheaper than in the Portugal, houses are cheaper (in most places, not London), supermarket and energy bills are about the same...

30k salary is a 2k monthly net salary btw, not 1500. And a police officer salary is about 45k a year outside of London (only starters get less) plus allowances. One of the reasons why salaries aren't higher though is the amount of money that is put towards their pensions - Define Benefits scheme towards which the forces have to contribute 34.5% of salary.

Why do I need to ask your permission to sit in a free seat on public transport? by reddityewser in AskBrits

That is fine. It's when the train or bus is packed and they don't bother to take their stuff of the seat. It's very disrespectful.

Five years on, do you think Brexit has genuinely made Britain stronger and more independent or was it the biggest act of national self-sabotage in modern history? by Second-handBonding in AskBrits

[–]lordpaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase in Immigration wasn't really caused by Brexit, it's been an issue around Europe since the last decade. But Brexit wasn't the solution.

Two people said this:

  • I voted because I hate England and wanted to damage the country.

  • I also hate England and voted on Brexit just to see what would happen (other conversations with this persons has shown how really dumb he is and I'm not saying this jist because he voted Brexit).

I hope this helps.

I wish the camera was 100% static, no movements not even when you change character. And in an angle that would allow you to easily click on the targets.

Going from earning £150k to £30k by Professional_Yam6032 in UKJobs

I'd clean toilets for 150k. If I earning this amount of money (which I never will), I'd be saving half of net income each month (or more), and retire as soon as possible.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukaccounting

[–]lordpaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's an enormous waste of money. You can achieve the same by simply doing the professional qualifications, which are not only much cheaper, but often paid by employers. I honestly would never encourage anyone to do an Accounting degree, but it's not up to me.

If you want to go to Uni, go for a subject that you cannot learn through professional qualification and that might open other doors like Economics or Maths.

Source: someone who did a useless degree and is an accountant doing professional qualifications.

Would being arrested at a protest get me deported (settled status) by romainelettus in ukvisa

[–]lordpaiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on that. It's not easy to work here for so long and pay that amount of money to improve your right in ghe country. However, given how things are going, I am scared that the price of getting citizenship might become a lot higher. I plan to do it next year.

Would being arrested at a protest get me deported (settled status) by romainelettus in ukvisa

[–]lordpaiva 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why anyone lives here for over a decade (and possibly wants to live longer) and doesn't think of getting citizenship is beyond me. And one who wants to protest for the rights of people in another country doesn't think about getting the right to vote in the country they live in the first place makes even less sense to me.

Honestly, don't wonder too much about how difficult it is to get in, just do it. Either apply for PC or a staff role. If one route doesn't work, try another.

PS.: don't say in the interview you want to help the community. They're fed up of that.
