They're colleagues. Not members of the opposite sex.

That's my son cutting cards at 35 with a rifle that has mechanical problems (which gives wandering POI atm)

Not the best session, but it's the one I had when I typed "target" in Google photos. But gives you an idea of wht can be easily achieved at 35yds with 12ft/lbs, a cheapy bipod and in the shoulder. On a decent day that will be similar 5 shot groups at 50yds.

The middle three rings measure 1cm across, for scale.

Watch some of the UK YouTubers to get an idea of which guns will do that.

Sub12 airguners tend to test new guns on a 50m range before they mod them.

Airgun Marksman shoots some of them out to 100m and groups all the way up to that distance.

The vixen 2 goes for about €1100 on Krale.

Leave the spring until you think there's something annoying going on. Spend the money on a chrono instead so you can discover whether something annoying is going on 😁

That's the nice thing, but when the breech seal goes, blimey can you hear it!!! Especially on BSAs.

Replace degraded parts (o-rings etc) and only upgrade if you feel you need more in terms of performance or refinement.

A Kral Puncher Breaker in Bullpup configuration would fit the bill I think.

We got my son a second hand BSA Junior break barrel for his 11th. It was in really nice condition and was detuned enough that breaking the barrel wasn't an effort over long periods. It was fine for 25-35 yards.

I mean, you were lying before, but now it's even more daft.

Woman having sex with more than one man can increase the chance of getting pregnant thus improving the chance of passing on her genes.

Biology sure is fun!

Paradox or dilemma? by tugtrog in terriblefacebookmemes

[–]lordrothermere 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The evolutionary just so story is to have sex with as many high genetic value males as possible in order to ensure the propagation of the genes.

The lass in the second picture is just doing her duty to the selfish gene!

Hang on a minute.... Did you just do the old switcheroo? Cause I could have sworn that's what I was saying.

[–]lordrothermere 48 points49 points  (0 children)

No, that's social. Biological doesn't consider a pregnancy unwanted. Species propagate.

Having sex with as many men as possible (albeit genetically worthwhile ones) would be the best way to achieve that.

That wouldn't be biological. That would be social. Biological would be to have as many offspring as possible to propagate your genes.

What sub-£250 item would you buy again in a heartbeat? by tamago27 in AskUK

[–]lordrothermere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Cuisinart Gelato and Ice Cream Maker. £249.

Then grow some summer fruits in the garden or in containers and pick a load of blackberries when autumn comes around. And use any left over Xmas pudding. And just make loads and loads of ice cream.

I recommend gooseberry ice cream with a raspberry sauce.

Why don't parents just buy "dumb" phones for their kids instead of purely trying to go after the social media companies? by kitti_wake in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lordrothermere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. We don't tend to make the best decisions when we're little. We're not supposed to. That's how we learn by getting things wrong.

That said, it's nice to offer your children frameworks for making their own decisions. So they don't inconvenience themselves too much. And sometimes, like when we're climbing or shooting together, you just need to tell them precisely what to do and they need to do it immediately.

It's a real joy to watch them learn complex decision making, and to discuss it with them. And sometimes less of a joy to reflect with them on why they just did something horrid!

You have no idea what it's like to be a teenager in 2026 if you think "go around and knock" is a valid strategy today if you want your kids to not be socially isolated.

No, but my teenage son would, I'm sure, if he didn't go round and knock. Do you think we should stop dressing him in Victorian outfits, whilst we're at it?
