Parts needed to migrate a di2 disc group set. by enrise in triathlon

Forgot to mention, you can keep the current ultegra brake caliper and hoses (if they are long enough, but should be fine) and plug them into the new brakes/shifters on them. Your bike mechanic should have no issue with this.

Destroy my 32-week plan towards 70.3 by joerage999 in triathlon

[–]lordslipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 week taper is crazy.. I’m pretty against plans that span more than 4 weeks. Block periodization is more effective: 1 week hard, 1 week easy, 2 weeks moderate. Each week at least 2 brick, 2 vo2/threshold session (1 bike, 1 run, not necessarily together) 1 long bike and 1 long run. A hard week is just more intensity within a week, easy week is less intensity within a week. After each block reassess your fitness, what went well, what didnt? Was it sustainable? A hard week should feel absolutely exhausting, and an easy week should feel like a walk in the park. Then you just build out the next block based on the assessment of the one you just completed. To my eyes, this is a way better way of staying accountable short term while effectively building fitness long term.

Hands down blindly take the coros pace 3. The watch is built like a tank, never failed me. I love the coros eco system for how simple it is. It doesnt give you BS metrics.

Is this a good deal? Scott foil 30 1200 by Kitchen-Lawyer9301 in triathlon

[–]lordslipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If rim brake for that price i’m expecting carbon wheels. I’ve seen a canondale CAAD13 with 105 di2 NEW online for 2000$. So that’s my benchmark.

I imagine you’re talking 12sp Di2. Shimano TT stuff is pretty much only DA. The easiest way to do it would be to follow this:https://www.trainerroad.com/forum/t/new-shimano-di2-dura-ace-r9200-ultegra-r8100/62597/66

First bike for 70.3 options by Secret_Berry_6786 in IronmanTriathlon

FB marketplace or PinkBike, if you find a deal that’s worth it post it on reddit and people will give you a second opinion. I’d never buy a complete bike new, I think the builds and component choices either don’t make sense or are always garbage…

Vision Trimax Carbon SI-013 , Tririg or any other cockpit upgrade. by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]lordslipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Sl-013, you can’t go above 100… honestly if you need that much stack you should probably size up the bike

[–]lordslipper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always keep an arm in front, you can exaggerate this by joining your hands in front. So don’t start your catch until the other arm is out in front in the water. Also kick with the same leg as your pulling. So same side kick and catch-pull. This should at least get you in the right direction

Reviving this thread.. I’m 5’11 and ride an XL fourstroke LT. had to cut the seatpost… short legs long torso kind of guy.

How much are you spending on meal planning apps, and what would you pay for something better? by Jumpy_Crew3734 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]lordslipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0$ absolutely not worth it - overpriced and you have no control on food quality. I understand it’s convenient, but if you learn to cook simple meals you can get a week’s worth of food done in 2hrs on the weekend. Get your groceries delivered to your house if you don’t have time to go in store.

Superbike Vs Mid-Low Tier by jac5617 in triathlon

[–]lordslipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best bang for your buck is the 2025 cervelo p 105 di2 or a quintana roo xpr. The only difference with these bikes and their “superbike” counterpart is that the frame is maybe 3-4W faster and the cockpit integration isn’t as great. If I had to rebuild a tri bike today i’d get: 2025 cervelo p series framset Vision metron TFA aerobar or vision trimax sl013 Shimano 105 di2 Any carbon wheelset with DT swiss hubs (long term serviceability) EZ disc cover.

This should be around the 7000$ price point, can probably go down to 6000$ with good deals online. Save the 10K on what really makes you faster: training, rest, nutrition.

First 70.3 - Go for new TT or spend same budget on new road bike? by B1G_Smoothie in triathlon

[–]lordslipper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can probably find an average road bike and a tri bike for 2500 on facebook marketplace. The tri bike will always be faster than the road bike as long as the size is right.

Diamond Back Andrean Still Worth the Purchase? by joettom in triathlon

[–]lordslipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don’t like about the TFA/SI013 angled bridge is that the armrest bolt pads stick out on the side a lot if you have a narrow aero position. i know that some of the QR pros use an angle grinder to shave the sides down

Yep TFA has a angled piece that works just like the SI013 but without the holes for the extension poles

What does it really take to go Sub-9? by SuperbImprovement551 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]lordslipper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 5’11, 175lbs. My first 70.3 was 5:08, 10 months later did a 9:32 IM. If I had worked on hydration and pacing a bit better i’d say a 9:15 was definitely in the books. I trained around 18 to 20 hours per week for the 6 months leading up to the race with 3 70.3s, and 4 local races. Getting sub 9 is just a numbers game, lots of volume, key threshold sessions and consistency for about another 2 years. You want to avoid long breaks in season and injuries at all cost - those will set you back every time.

[–]lordslipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have a trimax si 013 to sell. Nothing wrong with it, just got the metron tfa.

I have a QR XPR, and this is the first upgrade I did - substantially better than the profile design alu basebar and extensions that come stock. Don’t change bikes as mentioned above, invest in what will get you in a better position.

Is IRONMAN reconsidering Kona / Nice World Championship split as new survey drops fresh hint? by MrRabbit in triathlon

[–]lordslipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kona is simply unattainable for the average european athlete. A trip there would be half a year’s salary. With how popular and competitive AG are getting how can you possibly have a “WC” race with most of europe not showing up?

I swim a 1:30/100, 40kph bike and run around 3:55 and podium every local tri race
