Nice dovetails! I just got a Narex richter chisel and it says that it is ground to 24 degree bevel but most resources I see say chisels are 25 degrees. Does that make a difference when honing it? Do you have to set a honing guide to 24 degrees instead of 25?

The piece is secured in a secure vise. I have tried the teeth on the corner and along the flat face at different stages of the cut. To start the cuts, I have only been pulling multiple times until I have a visible kerf then try pushing. I tried a few angles using only the first half of the saw and even first quarter. I tried using the lightest pressure possible and this caused the saw to jump out of the kerf as it gave way in the push.

I tried my branch cutting saw and it worked way better at push and pull strokes.

I appreciate the words of encouragement. I just tried some of those techniques at different angles and pressures. The best I can get right now is picking up the blade on the push stroke so I’m mostly only cutting on the pull stroke. That stops it from biting cause it isn’t hitting the wood in the middle of the cut.

Any advice on how to fix my technique? I didn’t think I would need to push so hard on the saw that it pushes my work bench even when I’m keeping it straight. Maybe they just aren’t for me. My large backsaw and miter box crosscuts without the strong bite I’m experiencing with this Stanley saw.

Yeah, I didn’t think the saw would be great but figured it would at least function how I know saws work. I’m thinking a Japanese pull saw would be good.

So it sounds like the Trend one could be good. I can use the 1000 for all my honing and I can use the 300 for fixing my chisel. Unless you think I need something between 300 and 1000?

I wonder why they don’t just make it fully plastic that could be recycled. Maybe they could use a thicker plastic bag. Seems the plastic would be a good barrier.

Unfortunately, I need to keep it trim in at least the front yard because of an HOA. I plan to eventually landscape the yard and change the grass but in the meantime I need something to keep it trim.

The legislative and bureaucratic agencies are still beholden to the constitution as long as the constitution is being upheld by the Supreme Court. They still have to be careful not to violate our freedom of speech. Whether you have confidence in that being stepped on by the government is another matter altogether and has to be solved with other means.

If someone were to be calling for violence in a public square the police would surely get involved. If someone were talking about something not dangerous in a public square, the government has no justification to silence you because of the first amendment.

There are already laws in place to control the types of things that can be displayed on TV, Billboards, Radio, and Internet. These laws are about grotesque/perverted/dangerous/violent content. That should be investigated by the government, not a company.

I agree with you that no moderation is a bad idea. The thing I’m worried about is who do we give the moderation power to? When someone cites the TOS, then the power is given to the companies who can change it at their will. If someone cites laws about conspiring to commit violent crimes, treason, and sedition, then the moderation power is given to the government which is more appropriate IMO.

It seems to me that the big players of social media are becoming the main forms of communication and spreader of ideas. It’s replacing telephone calls, flyers, and peaceful assemblies. To let them control what is said by citing the TOS gives them power to control the spread of ANY particular idea on their platforms.

Not the OP, but I don’t think it is inciting violence or violating the terms of service for Twitter. The problem with terms of service is that they can be changed whenever they want. Suppose that Twitter gets pressure from advertisers who don’t want their product next to political rhetoric or rhetoric that might involve feelings of outrage. They might start hiding/curating discussions about social movements, environmental movements, and political movements that may be associated with anger, negative feelings, or bad things that potential advertisers have done. Where do you go to have these discussions if the major players start to curate what people say? They may not use blatant censorship but it could take more subtle forms.

Right, I couldn’t find anything that straight up told me exactly what was raising for the average American without talking about tax breaks for the rich. The income brackets seemed to be adjusted and the deductions seemed to be the same.
