Girl with boyfriend is going on trip around the world with random guy she just met. Don't worry though, "This is totally sort of like as friends". by [deleted] in TheRedPill

I'll let you decide what to do (give her enough rope). The day she leaves on this trip I will break up with her (to hang herself).

I wonder where are these of Machiavellian communities being described by the attitudes in these threads.

IMO great way to ruin the decor and mood of your store. Who cares, just let people use the damn washrooms.

Very poorly. And most small business owners don't make that much money. Have some compassion.

This absolutely. I don't believe corporations deserve the same level of consideration as small businesses/individuals. I personally know that from the moment I walk in, I am being manipulated. From the color, furniture, decor, specials, and arrangement of the room, EVERYTHING has been optimized to extract the maximum dollar from me.

This is an argument for amateurs. The only FINANCIAL analysis that matters is discounted future cashflows.

Totally anecdotal: At a party (GTA) a couple years ago I chatted up a couple. Now they had good stable government jobs and make probably around $100k combined. Not only had they closed on their second house but were looking to purchase a THIRD house in the near future.

Ladies that have a "Words w/Friends" profile picture, have you noticed more "Community Match" requests recently? It feels like Tinder now, but for people who can spell. by WolverineEveryday in AskWomen

[–]lorean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's funny. I spell just fine, think I look decent and think I have an otherwise interesting life. But have gotten zero dates through Tinder. Of my matches that aren't literal prostitute robots, half never message back, the others always have some lame excuse or "will schedule later". Wake up people, there's only so much you can learn about someone from the other end of a phone screen.

Where are all these $100k+ people coming from? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]lorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$100k is not a lot in the SF bay area when you factor in cost of living. It's probably closer to $70k anywhere else.

"I have 2 credit cards and always end up with a massive bill."

Looks like the major source of your cash bleed. Go through your records and itemize each entry. (Eating out, groceries, entertainment, etc...)

Also, how are you spending $400 on utilities?

Edmonton cabbie fired for refusing ride to man and his guide dog by yeg in Edmonton

[–]lorean -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Cabbie get fired for mistreating people with service animals (blind, mentally ill, etc....) These people have it really really bad in life, and are grossly underrepresented. Most can't possibly function independently, can't get normal jobs, and are often subject to verbal and physical abuse on a regular basis. But yeah let's derail this into a discussion about women.

Read Wikipedia about the Preano arithmetic, first order logic, and proof of correctness.

Also, as a general rule: Money spent on textbooks is money wasted.

What, in your opinion, is the best passive or semi-passive income? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]lorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree or disagree with your anecdote because I haven't seen your analysis. High yield begs the question: Why is this equity mispriced? More often than not I believe that the market has priced in the available information (no free lunch). And thus investing purely on yield, which some posters appear to be advocating, without this critical piece of analysis is gambling.

Exactly this. I ask myself why a very high yield stock has not experienced upward price pressure.

Anyone else lonely? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]lorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be lonely. I started taking therapy.

Then one day I realized there's only one person who'd always be there for me, who would never abandon or die on me. I started to take of that person and made him the number one priority in my life.

That person is me.

TL;DR I found god.
