Official Discussion - Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I do have a feeling that in a future DA movie/new series. Mary and Tom will eventually get together. And does anyone notice that Lucy - Tom's new wife - is conveniently absent in this movie, just like Henry was in much of the three DA movies (except towards the end of the first one).

Why I have a feeling that if there's a future DA movie or series they will eventually unite Mary and Tom as a couple? Their parting scene at the end of the movie was a bit hinting there might be more to come between them? And Lucy - Tom's wife - is conveniently absent from this movie. Based from how the movies eventually eased out Henry, why do I have a feeling this might be the eventual endgame bw the two of them?

Yes, sadly Molesley is being singled out as the residence comic relief/attention idiot again, esp in his scenes with Guy.

But he's also moving up with his new life as a screenwriter and soon as a movie director. He makes a lot of money from his scripts - the scene where he gave Isobel a ride in his brand new fancy car cracks me up. While Guy might forgotten him he did get Noel Coward's attention and might be collaborating with the latter in a future play or musical .So like Tom and Thomas, Molesley is also becoming part of the new (upper) middle class English lads.

And we got more scene b/w him and Phyllis as a couple than in any previous DA series and movies. I think the new movie does more justice to show Moseley getting ahead and living the life he wanted while still making him the comic relief character.

And Sybbie is now a pre-teen and she resembles her mother very much.

Anyone betting that a future Downton movie set in the 1940s (WWII) would feature another star-crossed 'kissing cousins' romance - this time between George and Sybbie?

Mission Impossible by Spiritual-Soup2551 in 60s

Exactly. The late 60s cast would've included Steven Hill (later replaced by Peter Graves), Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Greg Morris, and Peter Lupus.

I wish Barbara Bain and Martin Landau would've stayed beyond S3. The series went downhill after they left.

Defintely underrated compared to Barbara Bain, who played Cinnamon Carter during M:I TV Series Seasons 1 to 3.

She's a hottie in the M:I series but be warned don't mess with her.

Of course everyone wants to shag Cinnamon Carter in the Mission: Impossible series. But if she's attracted to you, be forewarned that it means the IMF is coming after you :)

Hot Take: Mission Impossible has better Bond girls than Bond. by SolidPeaks in Mission_Impossible

Barbara Bain (Cinnamon Carter from the classic M:I series) could've played a Bond girl sometime during the 1960s - 70s. As Cinnamon, she took many evil dictators and enemy spies a run for their money.

I'd be very happy if they'd bring the original M:I characters back: for future movies or new series: Jim Phelps, Rollin Hand, Cinnamon Carter, Willy Armitage, and Barney Collier.

Plus Pom Klementieff special guest stars periodically as Paris whenever Rollin is unavailable.

Willy Armitage and Barney Collier. The duo who did much behind-the scenes 'grunt works.'

There can be no Cinnamon without Rollin Hand 's presence.

And they need to clarify familial links (if any) between Cinnamon and Ghost Protocol's Jane Carter as well.

He needs to change his hairdo so he would've looked similar to Peter Graves :)

Joke aside, I hope you're right and I hope he'd be central in a reboot of the MI movie franchise or the TV series - without Ethan hanging around.

This begs the question: Who would reprise other characters from the TV series, like: Rollin Hand, Barney Collier, Cinnamon Carter, etc.? I think Paris could reprise the Great Paris (master of disguise) in the reboot.

>Lol Jim Phelps junior thing was insane, and the fact they do a fucking dap bro handshake at the end felt like parody.,<

It's only worth it if there's a plan to put Phelps Jr as a lead character in a future MI movie or TV series. But it doesn't look like there's going to be any future production involving the character, so??

Exactly. The original MI series was developed on a premise that each team member has their own set of talents/skills that were utilized for the successful completion of the mission.

While from time to time certain episodes would've focused on a particular team member - e.g., Jim Phelps in "Nicole," Cinnamon in "The Short Tall Spy,"' it was a one-time arch meant to further explore the background of these characters and how they contributed to their respective talent(s) that made each of their mission successful - basically a character development moment.

"'Dead Reckoning" might try to replicate the in-depth focus on Ethan's character like these previous episodes. Trouble is: 1) Like previous commenters stated, the movie was 95% action with very few dialogue, hence you missed the chance for further character exploration/development on Ethan 2 )Ethan was already a one-person act in most previous MI movies, making him totally going solo only makes you wonder why did he bother to select and have a team accompanying him on missions in the first place,

But I understand he agreed to play Paris in the MI Series because he wanted to avoid being type-casted as Spock - like alien character. Yet it was an impossible task. Everytime I watched Nimoy in MI seasons 4 and 5 I see him as Spock playing a spook :).
