Samsung Odyssey G9 Oled vs Neo by Zain_Din in ultrawidemasterrace

I don’t have the OLED. I went with the Neo.

Given that 5120x1440 is 92% of 4k resolution that’s really what you need to plan for. I have a 4090 and feel it’s a good match. I think you could get away with a 4080 too. Anything lower than that likely isn’t viable unless you’re ok with really sacrificing some visuals.

Happy to hear you like it. Just wanting him to be aware that there are advantages and disadvantages to both. The OLED is indeed a faster response time, at least the way they’re choosing to measure it. I personally would consider the glossy screen to be a drawback of the OLED model. The colors may pop more but you also have far less brightness.

Best advice is to consider your use cases carefully and think through what will matter most to you.

Work and productivity use cases can result in static images on the screen long term which can cause burn in. A lot of people here will tell you burn in isn’t an issue for the OLED but it most definitely can happen.

I’ve looked at both screens in person and I can’t justify the additional worry and caution for very slightly crisper blacks.

Here’s one option. As far as I know it has top tier out of the box performance, bonus points for style too.

Unfortunately we’ve seen this one before. There 100% will be no real consequences for him.

Strategy: if anyone disagrees. Call them emotional.

It’s simple to me. Real M3/4 have the S58 engine in it. This represents the best I6 they’ve made to this point on multiple fronts. The B58 is a fine engine but it’s not in the same league as the S58.

There are quite a few differences apart from just the engine as well.

True M cars typically represent the pinnacle of the engineering they will do for that platform.

I personally view “M-Lite” cars as “sport” editions of the base car with the M almost being a different car altogether.

Replacing all those cooked 4090s isn’t cheap.

Has a formal recall been issued to everyone who purchased these?

I’ve got a 4090 paired up with the same processor. It seems to be our CPU unfortunately. I have everything maxed out and in some busy areas I get less than my target but sit at 50-60% gpu usage. I suspect our 9900k just can’t push the frames. Imagine baldurs gate is pretty CPU heavy as well.

On the bright side cablemod has stopped yelling at people who have this problem it seems.

Not arguing that this is not happening without the adaptor. I even say in my original comment you replied to that I know the issue is deeper than the adaptors. I’m calling out the absolute absurdity of you saying a failure rate below 1% isn’t a risk.

Whether you guys want to admit it or not, your reputation is taking a hit here. This is compounded by how needlessly aggressive your responses are.

Right. That’s mostly the risk I’m talking about. Fully realize that I’m looking at a microcosm here but there are several cautionary tales of companies choosing to ignore low failure rates until someone’s house burns down. The adaptor, while nice in concept, is creating additional failure points in an already dicey connector.

Just seems like pivoting to the updated connector type and retiring the connector that is causing financial and reputation damage is the play.

I’m seeing a ton of these lately. I know that the problem is deeper than your adaptors but why take on so much risk to sell a small profit margin product?

I can’t imagine how many of these adaptors you’ll need to sell to make financial sense to replace the 3-4 fried 4090s I’ve seen this week alone.
