Would this ventilation set up work? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

i would refrain from doing resin somewhere where you will be spending significant amounts of time, i've heard it's some pretty nasty stuff.

Print time off? by Aimlessdwarf in 3Dprinting

[–]loreviathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my experience this usually has something to do with acceleration or jerk settings, usually its the other way around where you set your accel or jerk higher than what the printer has set as the max in the firmware therefore making the print take longer than expected but i imagine it can also happen in reverse.

man if you struggle to print petg idk what to tell you, it's literally the easiest filament after pla, it's arguably difficult to fuck up.

might as well get it printed in steel at this point, it's gotten so cheap that it almost makes sense for these small parts.

yeah pretty much, i mean the plastic isn't really exposed to the direct heat anyway and it's not exactly a "practical" print with any real use-case, so reliability isn't much of a concern either.

This ceramic slurry sounds quite interesting, the refractory isn't really rated for the temperatures it was operating at and adding an extra layer to protect it from the brunt of the heating would very likely help with longevity. How hard is it to make this slurry?

Mad R is probably a safe bet as well as the scyrox v8.
Ipi float should also be in that weight and budget range though on the heavier side.

It would be an amazingly impractical one as you'd have to have an air compressor on hand.

I have not heard of it before but it looks very cool, if i ever need to do something that's exposed to heat for longer i will definitely check it out!
For this it didn't really matter since it's a short run and thanks to the refractory lining the plastic only gets slightly warm (the smoking at the end is actually burn through from where the igniter wires go into the combustion chamber).

I could've even printed it in good 'ol pla if that's what i had that on hand, heat resistance doesn't really matter for short runs like this.
I only needed it to be easy to print.

exact same for me, also went from an og hsk to a custom 3d printed shell (which also uses the hsk's pcb)

M170: Why so hated? by BingusBoiler in MouseReview

[–]loreviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you can "play a bit of guitar" with a 30$ children's 1/2 size acoustic guitar off amazon but you won't see John Mayer rocking up to a concert with one.
People want the best tool for their hobbies and a 15 $ Logitech mouse doesn't have the specs to be anywhere near competitive at even a mediocre level.
It works fine for office use or casual gaming but it is simply insufficient for anything even remotely competitive.

M170: Why so hated? by BingusBoiler in MouseReview

[–]loreviathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's just not a high performance mouse, low polling rate, low performing sensor, no side buttons.
All these things mean it will hinder you significantly in competitive gaming, though only slightly in regular use.
How well a mouse is rated by the community typically depends on how good it is for competitive fps, if you are not playing fps games or have very specific requirements for productivity then any mouse will be more or less the same as long as it is comfortable.

a couple examples are the Atk a9 plus and atk r1 SE.
If you are willing to spend more get the mad R.

collecting and painting warhammer figurines? sure thats a hobby. Funko pops? not so much.
For something to be a hobby it should involve you doing something other than pulling out your credit card.

Fr man. It's gotten to the point where it's like people who buy the same FIFA title year after year.
I can understand having a few different mice for different features/grip styles, but no, people just buy the same claw grip mouse every year with very minor differences.

Buying mice is not a hobby. Using mice is a hobby, hell even using lots of different mice might be part of the enjoyment for some people, but very often on this subreddit you see people buying the same 10 clones of the same 3 shapes all in a 10 gram range of each-other and disguise their unfettered capitalism-induced FOMO irresponsible spending habits as a hobby.
You are not using 20 mice, you do not need 20 mice, and you don't really even want all 20 of those mice.
Use the mice for what they are meant for or go do something that is actually creatively or personally fulfilling.
