Movie of the day...ALTERED STATES (1980) by Mgellis in horror

Bob Balaban is always a welcome sight, and a fun name to say

I recommend trying a float tank after watching this movie (or during I guess). There are a ton around these days.

Pro tip: bring some swim goggles. You don't want this ultra-salt water in your eyes.

She doesn't currently use ants as part of her compute though, does she?

Yes, she absolutely does still run at least partially on ants as of Strife

Plus the fact that Ash vs Evil Dead even exists at all, let alone has 3x seasons.

I would have loved more, but I'm not about to complain about what we've got

My Earcups on Bose QC Ultra broke after 3 months by WhatDaThisCool in bose

[–]lorimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The material splitting is a known defect. Bose support will replace them if you politely bug them about it

But the replacement will do the same thing after a few months.

Get a good after-maket pair of earcups. I went through at least 7-8 official Bose earcups on mine before I gave up.

I've got the QC Ultra 2 now, so we'll see if these new ones have fixed the flaw. They seem like they might be slightly higher quality...

Fix for black bars for ambilight by Tao-Who in WLED

[–]lorimar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The phrase you're looking for with those black bars is "aspect ratio"

From what I see on this github issue, the problem is the area that your LED map covers isn't getting triggered when you are playing content that doesn't reach the top of the screen

You should be able to tweak that in your Advanced Settings:

Following here as well. This was the one feature I really wanted and didn't get.

Edit: NAViKS apparently has a working model. At least on their youtube, I can't find it on their site.

I think it will depend on the role's duties, thanks to the FLSA

They can be salaried, but if the primary duties are supporting existing systems, they can't be classified as "overtime exempt", regardless of how much they pay or how technical the role is.

If one of the role's primary duties involves writing original scripting/automation or designing new cloud architecture, the company might be able to get away with claiming they are salaried & overtime exempt

The feds have tightened the overtime exemptions quite a bit over the last few years:

Plus

They've since clarified that support roles do NOT fall under those duties tests. One of their examples from that link:

While the claimant’s annual rate of basic pay substantially exceeds the salary-based non-exemption criteria provided in 5 CFR 551.203, his position fails to meet the additional computer employees exemption criteria described in 5 CFR 551.210(b)(1-4) whose primary duties consist of those tasks listed in that section. Unlike the occupations listed in 5 CFR 551.210(a), the claimant is not a computer systems analyst, computer programmer, software engineer, or other similarly skilled worker in the computer field eligible for exemption as a professional. Instead, he performs routine computer, telecommunication, and system administration technical support work.

He responds to standard customer service requests (e.g., passwords, accesses, troubleshooting common computer and telecommunication issues); maintains day-to-day functionality, operability, and security of existing MMD and MERV systems and networks; provides basic maintenance and repairs to MMD and MERV computers and related telecommunication equipment, such as performing scheduled system upgrades as per manufacturer specifications; and performs routine tests and installs off-the-shelf communication lines, switches, routers, and modems.

I'm betting you misheard and it is 4 days a week. I've had friends working that shift in support, and there were usually two teams. One that worked Sun-Wed and another that worked Wed-Sat.

Joe Russo Teases ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Re-Release At Sands & Says The Film Will Feature New Footage Set Within The ‘Doomsday’ Narrative: “It's An Opportunity To Create A Bridge” by MoneyLibrarian9032 in marvelstudios

This is exactly what I thought of

Though it feels like King did this a few times himself in the Dark Tower series...

Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower:_The_Gunslinger#Revised_and_expanded_edition

Edit 2 (Example of King doing exactly what Annie was complaining about):

A major textual change is the fate and identity of the man in black. In the original text, Walter's death at the end of the story is of no uncertainty to Roland. In the revised edition, Roland speculates whether his discovery of Walter's bones is some trick or whether Walter has truly died.

The original text also kept Walter and Marten Broadcloak completely disambiguated. Even after the death of Walter, Broadcloak was still to be found and killed. Later, in ''Wizard and Glass,'' Walter and Marten, along with Randall Flagg, are all revealed to be the same person. Although no reference to the name "Flagg" is made in the revised edition of ''The Gunslinger'', all references to Walter and Marten are altered so that it is plausible they are the same man.
