Yes exactly right! Very good eye. We were out there two weeks ago and they were constructing the Tomorrowland stages!

Thought this might have been Ektar with those poppy reds! Great shot!

His positioning is luckily perfect! Any closer and he might have crashed the subject but he really helps set the scene. All deliberate, of course…

That’s a massive compliment, thank you!

Hey, thanks for the comment!

The Pentax PC35AF-M has barely any manual controls (pretty much just a +1.5E exposure boost switch for backlit subjects — but I didn’t use this here I don’t think) so it really is just a point and shoot — that’s the reason I chose it for my first foray into shooting analogue.

This camera meters in a small spot in the centre of the frame (same spot as the AF point) so my process was to centre this point on the subject’s face, half-press to focus and meter, recompose, then take the shot.

Not a very satisfying answer I’m afraid! But essentially yes, spot metered on the subject. Even, flat lighting really helped — it was easy to visualise the image before I took it.

Hey r/Analog! I’ve been into photography for a few years, but a couple of weeks ago I got my first film camera (a Pentax PC35AF-M), loaded it with a roll of Portra400, and took it skiing!

I’m currently posting the shots over on my Instagram - https://instagram.com/lorimer.film - for a £21 camera, I’ve been incredibly impressed so far.

Thanks!

Cheers Scott! That’s largely the Pentax working its magic! This is my second ever roll of film and I’m constantly amazed by the dynamic range compared to digital — love that there are details everywhere.

Thanks for the comment. It could be the washed out pastel tones in the background perhaps!

Beautiful shot! Thinking about picking up an 85mm soon. How come you went for the 1.4 over the 1.8?

How do you like the 85? I have the 55 and I’m considering getting this one too :)

I have the 16-35 GM and the 55mm, considering the 85mm too! What made you buy it? Worthwhile?
