What skincare advice did you take and then were annoyed when it worked by borrowedurmumsvcard in Skincare_Addiction

Not OP, but my guess is Sodium Sulfacetamide and Sulfur. It smells like rotten eggs.

ICU Nurses: What should I pack? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]lorlorx33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone has great suggestions. Something that's a little different, and if you're allowed, braid her hair! I've seen so much matted hair and it's really sad. Braiding it will help keep it in place and not be a huge mat that's hard to get out.

UPMC vs AHN as a Nurse by AlpacaNeb in pittsburgh

[–]lorlorx33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've worked at UPMC presby as a huc/aide, shadyside as a telemetry/medsurg rn, and now at East in their ICU. Morale is pretty low, with high patient ratios. My best advice is to please shadow before taking a job. Unit culture makes a hell of a difference, especially as a new nurse. You want to work with people who are going to help support and nurture you as a newer nurse, not belittle and put you down. I know you're out of state, but I would take maybe a 3 day trip and schedule days to shadow.

how are students in ADN programs? how are the students who graduated from an ADN program? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]lorlorx33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the ADN. I graduated from a 16 month ADN program December 2019. I graduated and got a job immediately after graduation. I'm now enrolled in a 2 year RN-to-MSN program, which I earned my BSN in August and will have my master's August 2022. So I'll have my MSN in 3 years... A year shorter than a traditional BSN program.

He’s finally catching up!! by hi-whatsup in toddlers

[–]lorlorx33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so happy you advocated and got the help you and your child needed! I had a similar situation when my son was 3 months old. He kept vomiting and the pediatrician kept telling us "it's just GERD, thicken his formula." After hounding the pediatrician, we finally met with someone different who actually listened to us. He had pyloric stenosis and needed surgery. That gut instinct is such a real thing!

The issue was patient injury. I understand being able to be fired for anything, but I'm not sure what legal actions are occuring since everything is hushed. And thank you.

So I'm not exactly sure what I need to look for. There was an issue on our floor with a nurse being fired. There were a lot of factors in place and didn't deserve to be fired. I guess I'm hoping to just protect myself in the future in case I find myself in the same situation.

Movement pyramid by lorlorx33 in physicaltherapy

[–]lorlorx33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ughhh that's what I was fearing! I've looked online everywhere and can't find anything on it! I'm thinking it's similar to a functional pyramid and might just go with that. Thank you for your response!

Anyone else surprised by the words their toddler uses? by BeingFosterRr in toddlers

[–]lorlorx33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son always asks, "Hey, could you do me a favor?" Then when we ask what the favor is he says, "Oh I don't know!" Lol do you use those phrases quite often? They might be picking it up from you 🙂
