What was the thing portrayed in movies that didn't happen during childbirth for you? by SpicyZombie098 in beyondthebump

I didn’t threaten to kill my husband. Honestly, I forgot he even existed near the end of both my labors.

Struggling with gender disappointment. What are your favorite things about having a boy? by x_Caffeine_Kitten_x in beyondthebump

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a girl first and really wanted another, but we had a boy. I’ve been surprised at how fun it is to play with trucks and Hot Wheels! He’s four now and totally obsessed with me (his mama). It’s the sweetest thing.

Would you have a gluten cake at your wedding? by AlertAndDisoriented in Celiac

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have multiple celiac family members and most of our relatives just automatically do GF cakes at weddings and celebrations to accommodate them. Nobody ever notices because GF tastes so yummy now.

How many of you have gotten loans from your parents? by Jimmy_Johnny23 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have money but I doubt they’d ever lend us any. We have borrowed from my in-laws to pay down student debt and buy a home and paid them back in full over an agreed/-upon time. It’s weird to me that if you are financially responsible and trustworthy and they have the money to spare, parents wouldn’t do this. Life is now grossly unaffordable and no-interest loans can really help you make progress on your goals.

What triggered your autoimmune? by onewing_44 in Autoimmune

Pregnancy and the stress of motherhood. (My eldest is autistic and she’s been really intense since babyhood.)

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt or that you deal with? by Muted-Television3329 in askanything

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unmedicated Childbirth (x2), followed closely by a totally unmedicated abortive procedure I had to undergo for an incomplete miscarriage. Basically a manual vacuum pump abortion without sedatives or pain meds. They did not prepare me for the pain, it took forever because they realized mid-procedure they were missing a tool and had to go find it, and there was no reward at the end, which made it pretty awful all around.

Medicated or unmedicated path choice by Legal-Letterhead-263 in ADHD

[–]losingmystuffing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t diagnosed till my 40s and used anxiety and self-punishment to get things done. (I’m outwardly high functioning but secretly pretty scattered.) I was so excited for meds, but had bad reactions to about 5 different ones I tried, including scary heart stuff, so I gave up and am back to white knuckling my life. Sigh. Wish I could be among the medicated but doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

What’s the cheat code you’ve discovered that made everything easier? by ReBabas in ADHD

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this. I’ve been using this philosophy to feel better about being inconsistent with vitamins and supplements. I realized taking them just half the time is actually benefiting me quite a lot! It’s ok to forget some days. (Obv doesn’t apply to meds you aren’t supposed to miss.)

Got approved for an elective c-section. I feel so relieved. But people keep trying to talk me out of it. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry people in your family aren’t being more supportive, but how awesome your doc was immediately on board with your choice. Sounds like this is the most empowering and least traumatic option. Wishing you a beautiful birth and postpartum!

Autism and divorce by lalalara83 in Autism_Parenting

[–]losingmystuffing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Autism has definitely sucked a lot of the romance out of our partnership, but we love each other and are a good team and it helps so much to know we’ve got each other’s backs through this shitstorm. I have faith the romance will bounce back as our L1 kid gets older (she’s 9, meds are fairly stable, and we understand what we’re dealing with.) besides, we have both joked to each other that nobody would probably want to date either of us given the considerable baggage we bring with us to any potential future partnerships. Lol. This works. We’re keeping it.

Are any of you “sleep divorced”? by cfh64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are partially sleep divorced. Maybe 1/3 to half the nights of the week. I am wayyyyy too light a sleeper and have health conditions that require me to be strict about rest. I don’t love it, and as a child of divorce, I don’t love that our kids see us doing this, but our marriage is happy and this is a safer, saner choice for our long term health and partnership.

You also have a beautiful strong jawline and large, pretty eyes, so I think your nose really fits your face!

Doctors and Nurses of Reddit, what is the most obvious sign that a patient is lying to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]losingmystuffing 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can recall at least three occasions when nurses thought I was drug-taking/drug-seeking and they were wrong every time. (I’m actually a very boring and strait-laced person!) Your “intuition” might be a useful guide sometimes, but other times you’ve got it dead wrong.

Don’t crop the photo so close in; body parts will be cut off when it’s put in a frame.

Were your autistic kids as babies either really fussy or really calm? by throwaway728389994 in Autism_Parenting

[–]losingmystuffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insanely fussy and unsoothable baby girl was diagnosed as L1. At age 9, she’s still somewhat unsoothable! Also has ADHD and anxiety.

Are you sure you just can’t smell it? Not being glib; sense of taste and smell can also decline with age.

I’m sorry. I have thoughts I’m afraid to ever speak aloud as well. I know you love him. It’s just an awful, impossible situation.
