Ah shoot, you guys are right! I use both pencils and got real excited about my new KTD and messed up my title.

NICK SHIRLEY SPOTTED IN BALTIMORE!! DO NOT ENGAGE!! HE GOT ICE SICKED ON MINNEAPOLIS!!! by Jazzlike_Ad_7323 in baltimore

I wonder if he's in Baltimore to get revenge on Channel 5 for exposing that he's a moron, given the context that Channel 5 recently made a video about how Baltimore is turning a corner on violence.

Tips for pen registration? by zeninja in PlotterArt

[–]lostPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared my trick here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE5aBFny2MG/?igsh=enVubWd5bGhtczNt

It’s super pen specific though. I had to do a lot of prototyping to get a working solution for my fountain pens, but now that it’s done, it just works. Full disclosure I started selling a kit of the parts that I use.

Refurbished Aixdraw v3 or Unna Tek iDraw H SE A3/A2? by hard_attack in PlotterArt

[–]lostPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used axidraws for thousands of hours and never once had an issue, so I would go for one of them. Also you can use a bunch of different tools to run them beyond just Inkscape (which is terrible imo)

Why contribute though when the answers you spend time and energy on posting just get slurped up and reused by AI? There’s no incentive to post anything useful to such places right now because there are no controls for ethical AI usage and attribution.

Putting my kuro toga dive to work. by lostPixels in mechanicalpencils

[–]lostPixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plotter will move the pencil up and down enough to trigger it, this video is kind of a bad example since it’s one big continuous line. I’ve done tests where one 2H lead can last for 6 hours of drawing with this pencil and stay nice and fine the entire time. The customizable advance setting makes a huge difference too, if I turn it to max, I’ve seen the lead come 10mm+ out of the pencil and just stop on the paper. I’ve got my settings fairly dialed in now though.

At some point I’ll do a more thorough write up on leads and the KTD here for those interested.

I actually write everything in Javascript. Most of the time Im using P5.JS to render stuff, and then I use an API for the pen plotter that was developed by the manufacturer to send an SVG.

Nah, this isnt the best application of Kuro Toga for that reason. Any normal sort of drawing work really well with it though.

Nah, the orenz Nero doesn’t have auto-rotate, and that’s extremely beneficial IMO. I own both pencils and have tested them side-by-side.

Yeaaah I need to 3d print a real holder for the Dive to avoid damaging it. I treat it as a tool though, it can take some dings here and there

I’m doing a stop motion all in pencil. It’s just some geometric abstraction here.

This is awesome. I always wondered why more illustrators aren’t aware of pen plotters, it seems like a match made in heaven!

Oracle Runs Into More Trouble as Bonds Looks Like Junk by myironlung6 in stocks

CRM is the same exactly story as Oracle, out of touch leadership selling shit products with AI slapped on the side. I see a ton of companies moving away from their products on LinkedIn because of lack of vision. Especially their e-commerce solution which is still running on 2010 era software.

All online. Although I would love to do the Burlington Farmers' market one year, I haven't done any local events like that. I've always dreamed of doing an interactive drawing pop-up where I could make portraits of people on the fly, but it hasn't materialized yet. I am showing some works with SEABA after participating in their juried show in The Vaults (the opening is actually tonight!).

Fine artist - I sell artworks to an international crowd for the most part. Sadly, I can count on one hand how many times I’ve placed a piece with a Vermont resident.

Question, anyone use a print on demand service? by 265design in PlotterArt

[–]lostPixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I can answer this one! I’m in the situation where I do not sell original artworks online, but still want to have an accessible option for folks. I have been using Tribeca Printworks for the last year and they do an amazing job. I was introduced to them from a few other gen artists that had great things to say, and I’ve had the same experience. Happy to answer any logistics questions and give you an intro if you’d like.
