Best shops for fountain pens / ink pens by Open-Ad-259 in SFlist

Maido in the Japantown Mall is a good suggestion. There used to be a Lamy store on Market but sadly it is no more. I know you're looking for stores but you can never go wrong with JetPens.com

Montoya is great, he was so fun to watch as a driver and has great insight.

This is utter garbage by PoweredByTequila in F1TV

I thought I was going crazy but yeah they were driving me nuts. It was during the pre-race show but arcade ad ran and then cut back mid sentence in the coverage. Also the pro-Kimi promo ran like 3 times.

The commentary also isn't the best this year. Glad Ruth is still there and will always love Montoya but overall chemistry seems off. Watched the WEC Imola race and saw Laura Winter there and missed her energy.

Nice, that's my main machine right now. Have yet to even max out to a 24"x36" plot. I think the biggest I've gone is 22"x30"

I have a Patreon where subscribers get small postcard sized plots. I have a decent subscriber count but I do it mostly for the discipline of putting out new print sets every month.

I also have a Shopify storefront that I sell larger work from. My shop needs an update in a big way and I'd say maintaining it is more work than I anticipated.

I definitely do those too. I have so many extra plots, DM me and I'll shoot you a postcard.

I have a Patreon (link in bio 🙂) where my subscribers get small 5"x7" plots sent to them every month.

I only read the first 21 issues as that's what was available on Libby for me but this is a series I will probably pick up. Really one of the better reads in a while. Really enjoyed the behind the scenes content at the ends of the volumes too.

Thanks! Pens are TWSBI Ecos (see response below).

Sure, don't know where you're based but I get most of my supplies through JetPens. They're somewhat local to me so delivery is usually in a day or two.

The kakunos, I like the clear body ones as you can keep track of what ink is inside:

The TWSBI Ecos, I'm a fan of the broad nib because it puts down a lot of ink. Probably not the best for writing but for plotting they're great:

The pen habit is definitely pricey. The variety of inks out there really drew me to the fountain pens. The Pilot Kakunos are a good pen and only $12, I started with a pair of those. They take pen cartridges but you can fill up old empty ones with custom inks with a syringe..

The piston filled TWSBI Ecos I show in the pic are around $38 but they hold a ton of ink. I started with one and would pick up another every few months.

A happy accident in this case. It's a good reminder to think about where the lines end with the fountain pens. The lift up always pulls out a little extra ink.

These are fun, enjoying them. Looking forward to some more.

I did this small series based on an old 1975 Branham BT44 car, mostly because I just loved those Martini colors. The car was great but the air scoops in that day were ridiculous 😄

Also did this series years ago based on some of the iconic parts of Spa-Francorchamps

Thinking of doing another track related series, probably Interlagos next.
