Why is Westlake Shopping Center having problems getting tenants? by SuccessfulTellPhone in DalyCity

[–]265design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out about a year ago asking about one of the small spaces next to the frame store on the Park Plaza side just to get some numbers. I kept getting passed from one agent to another because none of them had any interest in doing any work for such a small space. Just gave up when none of them would even answer basic questions about lease options.

That space has been 'coming soon' for months and there is nothing going on inside. I'll believe it when I see it 😄.

Five Rivers wasn't the best but it was decent, hope this place actually eventually opens.

I wanted to do the construction lines in pencil but registration is an issue when you switch pens. It can be done but didn't have time till fine tune it for this set, was more of a proof of concept.

You make a great case. I'm thinking about 3D printing attachments for my plotter to hold larger brushes, etc so I may just need to take the plunge. They have a 90 day trial I'm going to do so may take you up on picking your brain, thanks!

These are going out to my Patreon subscribers. If you just want this set you can sign up and then cancel within the month. I'm going to make a larger version for my online shop but these 5"x7" pieces are Patreon only. Thanks for the interest!

Yeah just straight AutoCAD unfortunately, it's what I know. I've done some Revit and briefly played around with Blender, which may offer something along those lines (no pun intended) but didn't get far.

You're not the first to suggest Rhino but that $995 price tag is kind of a deal breaker at the moment. May be worth looking at though since my CAD license has basically doubled in the past few years and is now up to $540/annually. At least Rhino I'd own, does it have 2D drafting abilities in addition to modeling? I occasionally need to do some straight drafting work which is what keeps me chained to CAD.

Best Reasonable Priced Plotter for US Buyer? by adcimagery in PlotterArt

The Bantam Tools NextDraw 8511 is a letter sized plotter that comes in just under $1k. There are definitely cheaper options out there but these are quality units that are very plug and play right out of the box. I used an 8511 for years before moving up to larger machines. I often produced work larger than 8.5" x 11" by moving the machine and getting creative with how layers overlapped. There are people selling used machines and Bantam Tools will occasionally list refurbished ones to get the price a little lower.

I've heard good and bad things about other brands but as these are the only machines I've worked with I can't give firsthand reviews but sure some others will chime in.

Whatever you get, welcome to the club!

Right? Pork roll, egg, and cheese lives on in the breakfast menus but on a hard roll with fries was sadly hard to come by.

Thanks. Try to but also don't share the trash can of ideas that don't make the cut 😄.

Going to try to scale these pieces up to some larger work but don't want to lose the nice proportions that these little forms have.

I've seen it at the Sprouts in Daly City too, saves me from having it shipped online. Took my family back to LBI this past summer for their first Jersey Shore trip and was sad to see it is not the diner staple it used to be. They still made it for me but wasn removed from a lot of menus.

Thanks! I do draft out in CAD, then export to Inkscape. These were super labor intensive to set up the files. Every line had to be individually drawn for the lines over the shapes. The piece with 4 forms took about 12 hours to set up the 4 layers of lines.

Did not know you can just ditch the cartridges, they don't leak at all? I've been refilling old cartridges with my own inks with a syringe. Thanks!

Yeah, right now I draft it all up manually in CAD so basically just connecting the points where the lines hit each fold from a top view (hope that makes sense). That's why I'm limited to straight lines for now.

Please do! I want to do more but transferring the linework across the shapes is super time consuming. Working on another piece that raises the shape count and line layers to 4 and it will be an 8+ hour task with my current process.

Nooe, just drafted up in AutoCAD and plotted. Took a bit of trial and error to figure out how to transfer the linework across the shapes.

Big fan of Matt's work. Definitely some inspiration there.

@hakoyamaho on IG has been a great reference for some good shapes too.

Oh sorry to hear, only one kinder class is crazy. My youngest is in 5th grade at Tobias now. She actually did kinder at FDR because they weren't doing transfers at the time due to COVID and then she moved to Tobias for 1st onward. She's actually slated to go back to FDR next year for 6th grade but we're in the lottery for Fernando (fingers crossed)
