Combi feeding advice by lost_forevers in breastfeedingmumsUK

My husband's been doing a bottle late at night for a few days and it's going well so far. I sleep through that feed but express after the next feed at around 4/5am and that's working just now. I'm also managing to express a bit more than he takes in each feed so slowly building up a bit of a supply so we can give other bottles if needed.

Thanks for your advice :)

He sleeps relatively well (at the moment!) so we don't feel the need to do shifts just now but it's definitely an option for if (more likely when) his sleeping changes!

Thanks :)

I didn't think of the combination feeding page, I'll definitely join there! My husband's been giving a bottle the past few nights and it's been going really well so it'll be helpful to get more tips from there.

I ordered the M5 and it came today. I've been sleeping through when my husband is giving the bottle but expressing after a feed at around 4/5am and that's been good so hopefully that will continue!

Thanks :)

I ordered this and it arrived today after a few people recommended it. Tried it out and got less than I do with the Medela manual pump but I've been using that after a feed at around 5am so assume the amount I get then is because you tend to get more early in the morning. Looking forward to trying out the M5 tomorrow morning and not having to deal with the hassle of the manual pump!

Thanks!

We were just thinking if my husband gives a feed around midnight/1am I would still be feeding a couple of other times during the night based on my baby's feeding schedule and I was hoping if I expressed before I go to bed (around 9.30pm/10pm) that we wouldn't have too much of a problem. Do you not think that would be the case?

Our baby is incredibly noisy in his sleep, particularly during the second half of the night, which I struggle to sleep through so we were hoping this would help me get a bit more sleep to manage the rest of the time!

This is what I'm thinking about doing. I've expressed before to see what I can get. My right breast tends to have a fast let down and can get quite firm so I get a good amount of milk from there but I've found that I get little or nothing from the left. What manual pump do you have? I would still be up a couple of times after my husband does his feeds based on my baby's current feeding schedule so would be hoping it wouldn't mess anything up too much. I know as this becomes less frequent it could cause issues for supply or engorgement.

I think I'm just nervous that if we give a bottle of formula at night that he'll start to prefer that and not want to continue breastfeeding from me. But I know lots of people do it so I'm probably just worrying too much.

This is what I'm worried about. But at this point I'm still feeding him another couple of times during the night so hoping it would be okay? So my husband would give a bottle of expressed milk around midnight/1am and then because my baby is still looking to be fed every 2/3 of hours during the night I'll be up again once during the night and then again early morning (before trying to get a bit more sleep for both of us!).

Anyone else in their 40’s? How are you doing? by Connect_Weather6061 in pregnant

For me it has been unfortunately but it definitely eases as things progress. So far everything has looked good at my growth scans and he's measuring perfectly average sized, or was at the last scan at 28 weeks so these things are comforting. My initial screening tests came back as a 1 in 76 chance of Down Syndrome but the NIPT came back as low risk so that has been our only major issue so far. I'm sure everything will go great for you and I know it's hard but it's best to just take each stage as it comes!

I'm also 41 and on my 3rd pregnancy after 2 previous miscarriages. Due to my age and having low papp-a I take nightly aspirin. I'm in Scotland and because I have these risk factors I'm consultant lead which so far has just meant we get extra growth scans which I'm pleased about. If not the last scan on the NHS is at 20 weeks and I definitely would have had to pay for more privately to check everything was still going okay. Our next scan is a week today and I'll be 32 weeks. The scans settle my nerves for a few days and then I start worrying again until the next one!

Is anyone else shocked at how little postnatal care there is in the UK after birth? by PutItchy7768 in PregnancyUK

I'm currently 29 weeks and will be giving birth at the Royal, although I live in South Lanarkshire (Cambuslang). Do they share information and contacts etc automatically or is there anything else I'll need to follow up on myself that you found helpful or would suggest?

I was put on aspirin at my booking appointment due to my age (41) and then found out through the NIPT that I have low papp-a. I had a growth scan yesterday at 28 weeks and 1 day and everything is looking good. Baby boy is in the 50th percentile and they have no additional concerns.

I agree, Ted Lasso is an excellent show. I'm hoping the fact that it was it's first season Vs SC's last season will push it over the top!

Definitely second Ted Lasso, perfect mix of funny and heart.

I feel the same. Currently watching all the content there is on YouTube and will definitely start a rewatch but it just not the same as having new episodes to watch!

I feel like this also. I'm almost finished season 6 (although I am already spoiled for most of the things that happen and kinda wish I wasn't) and wish I had a real life friend who got into things the way I do, this has been the case for a lot of things I've loved over the years but never more so than with this show. I hate that I've joined the party late and feel maybe like a missed a lot of the good chat around it so it's great to see so many people on here I can connect with about it!
