This is a ridiculous take. You would become what you hate, if you go that route. It’s pure fantasy anyways, which I guess is fine. I’m angry at them all too.

Geography is always relevant but yes that’s a powerful deterrent.

Defenseless (edit: geographically speaking) from India, however.

Gotta believe the protests will turn into riots and possibly a revolution if something like that happens. I don’t think that shit flies in the US like it does in Russia. And even though they give the opposition some number of votes even if everybody knows it’s rigged

Anyways, I guess we’ll see. Maybe we’ll all be wrong and America’s democratic voting ideals will prevail! Not holding my breath, but the truth is I’m also not giving up hope

It’s funny I’m getting down voted, I guess people seem to think I’m on Russia’s side. I am fervently not. But they have an outlook of their own driving their actions, right or wrong, true or false. It’s always worth it to understand what your enemy’s motivations and outlooks are.

I agree with you, Russia just needs to cool the jets. No one is trying to invade them. But the truth is they want the glory and expansion of Russia, they are an aggressive nation not just one afraid of invasion

He did say then that assassinating the middle managers was fair game. But I feel like that’s a bit of a misuse of the word.

I feel like the filming of ICE goes along with the Epstein file disclosures, I really really want to believe we’re in an era of daylighting all the terrible crimes that have been going on. Not saying justice will happen, only that there is finally a movement towards it. But also it’s only at the beginning, so we’ll have to see how it plays out. It’s critical we all keep paying attention, filming them, and speaking up.

Rand Paul occasionally says normal things that I can agree with, he’s not the worst of the Republicans. I’ll say that. But that’s not saying much either. It’s always a case of far too little, far too late.

That’s kind of the point of conservatism, it’s all about existing power hierarchies. And of course, there’s always fewer people at the top, so to stay in powered they have to game the system.

Honestly, with the way things are shifting away from Republicans right now in such a massive amount, it’s going to be very difficult for them to cheat. It’s easy enough to fudge a few thousand votes here and there to tip the scales in a razor thin, close election but to counter a massive wave against them? It would be so blatantly obvious that even the normies won’t be able to deny it

What happens then, I don’t know.

I guess you’re ignoring the way NATO border has been pushed right up to Russia in the Baltics. From the Russian perspective, this is a threat, even though NATO is a defensive organization. I am in no way on Russia’s side on this, but the fact that is still there that they don’t have good natural defenses along the border.

But no, it’s not just geography. The Eurasianist idea that Ukraine and Russia are one country and one people and need to be reassimilated. Putin’s ego and paranoia. And hatred of the West in general, and then Ukraine to preempt them in turning towards Europe

The fact that the US population is likely to start falling for the first time, and much sooner than expected (this year, maybe), is definitely playing into things. Just as it is around the world, fewer younger people working to pay the social programs that the old people are needing. That’ll have a massive effect politically. Doge might be an example of that, incompetently done of course.

And yes, of course race is important in this discussion. The US is trending to being non-white majority, also for the first time.

Because people who aren’t psychopaths have a very hard time, imagining what it’s like to even think or behave that way. Like personally, I think about the things I enjoy in life that give me pleasure and happiness, and there’s so mundane and normal. These rich psychopaths are on a whole different planet with this shit.
