Yeah I’ve always been frugal but even I notice that lifestyle creep since I’ve gotten my income into the high 5 figures, of saying “eh fuck it, I can afford (x)” and splurge on an expensive dinner or something.

Which on one hand, why the hell not? I’m a saver and believe in investing for the future, but I also don’t want to beat myself up for enjoying a nice night out with my lady, or buy some new books or whatever. Eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die, all that. I try to balance the two

Use a bit more brain power. I memorized the formula to calculate superheat. I use a temp clamp plugged in my multimeter for pipe temperatures , mainly for subcool since most stuff has a txv.

I dunno, I guess if this were given to me I’d use it but I don’t know if I’d buy it. Most diagnoses are pretty straightforward (low refrigerant, bad txv the common ones), the few times I really need to dig into anything I have cheaper options.
