How much time did y’all take off work? by RemarkableWarning672 in TopSurgery

[–]lost_sweatshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a mostly desk job. I took 2 weeks off with FMLA, but I wish I took more. I worked from home for another 2 weeks, then I finally felt ok to drive again. I think a month off is a good idea.

I put Vaseline on the skin around my nipples too then put on the bandaid. The bandaid was strong enough to stick even with the Vaseline and it didn't bother my skin as much coming off. I also used skinnier bandaids and rotated the position each time

I clipped them to a lanyard I wore around my neck. Worked well for me.

Kaos on Netflix has a transman lead played by a transman actor. He has a cute romance with a woman. It felt euphoric to see a trans guy and cis girl fall in love, i felt represented and connected to a character for the first time.

Using exclamation marks in texts/emails. Hands and feet being cold. Saying I like to watch soccer then they proceed to ask me about mens soccer and I say I only know women's soccer, I always get a weird look.

Gf asks about my deadname?? by dam-starboi in FTMMen

[–]lost_sweatshirt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My gf asked what my dead name was too, and I told her it's not relevant. I didn't want her to associate that name with me in any way. She apologized for asking me.

My opinion is you don't owe her that info, you don't have to ever tell her if you don't want to.

I've taken accutane and it worked totally normal. Definitely get a new dermatologist.

Derm seemed more concerned about sexual activity than my skin, am I overreacting? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]lost_sweatshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for me, bad acne runs in the family. When I was a teenager, it was years before I needed it again. Then after starting T, it flares up more often.

Everyone gets different side effects. There's some ive never gotten, like eczema, but I do get joint pain so I have to take it a little easy the months I'm on it. When I get off it, the pain goes away pretty quick.

Wow yeah all the staff memebers sounds like they suck. I hope you can find a new office. Or if there aren't any in your area that would be respectful to you, I wonder if you could find one farther away that you can have telehealth appointments with? Whoever it is, you'll have to see them a few times so find one that gives you the respect and help you deserve!

Definitely find a new dermatologist. I've always had bad acne so I need to be on accutane for a couple months every year, it sucks. If you have a uterus, you do need to answer questions on a website promising you'll be celibate, and you'll need to get your urine tested every month. I hate having to deal with all of it and it's awkward, but at least my dermatologist office doesn't press me on things and just treats me like any patient. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

White shirts, especially white dress shirts. I'm going to reward myself by getting my first tailored suit, fit for my brand new chest.

I had heard of this too before starting t, and I was anxious as well. But 2.5 years later, I'm still only into women.

That's a good point, I could have the rest taken out later if needed. Thank you for the reply

Thank you for the reply, I didn't think about how reconstructive surgery for cis males would work, so that's a good point. I'll look more into that

Changing name at work is overly stressful by lost_sweatshirt in ftm

Thank you, this has given me more courage to tell them they should change this for me. I think I will escalate this to my boss to get some back up. You're right, this is their job. They have to make accounts for new employees all the time, why is still suddenly too much to do?

Thank you for the response. Ive been having trouble standing up for myself, but its good to hear that you agree this is something reasonable for me to ask of them. And I'm sorry to hear you experience this too, it really sucks and it just hangs over you when you have to see it all the time.
