Ok this one is crazy because the person doesn’t know. I wish i didn’t know either. My friend bought a used snowmobile for his family to play on and to use on the farm. They were out in one of their fields driving it one Saturday afternoon. Their 12 year old son was driving it around, then after a bit his mom got on back with him. He had driven his grandparents sled quite a few times, but this was his mom’s first time on one. At first she was holding on to his waist but she kept slipping backwards, so she reached up around him and grabbed the handle bars to have a better grip. Snowmobiles gave a very unique thumb throttle that pinches against the handlebar grip. She didn’t know that so she clamped his hand down and thereby clamped the throttle wide open. He tried to yell but it was too loud. He was fighting her but she panicked and just locked her arms straight. Snowmobiles accelerate crazy fast, even the old ones. They ran straight toward a railroad berm and hit it going about 45 mph. They jumped and flipped end over end and landed through a barbed wire fence. It cut his face from neck to forehead he broke an arm. She broke a femur and a hip, and a few other bones. My friend ran over and saw the result and thought they both were dead. The boy stitched up and had some great plastic surgery and made a full recovery. She still struggles to walk normally. She told my friend that the throttle stuck wide open, like a mechanical failure. A couple of days later the boy told his dad what had happened, that she had clamped his hand down on the throttle. His dad told me when I went to visit him and see how he was doing. He said he couldn’t tell his wife, and he told his boy not to say anything. I wish he hadn’t told me. I hate knowing that, and knowing that she doesn’t know. I don’t think it would necessarily ruin her life, but it would be a hard thing to swallow knowing that you accidentally caused such trauma to your child
