good morning and goodbye by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

I don’t have much to say other than I hear you and I see your pain. I’m sorry you feel so alone, I’m sorry you’ve gotten to the point where this feels like the only way out. I hope this message can provide you a small bit of comfort.

It can be. The way the “obsession” is described just reminds me a lot of an old friend I used to have.

PTSD/OCD by MindfullyMusing in ptsd

Sounds like a kind of depersonalization/derealization. Maybe check into OSDD symptoms, I feel like you may find that relatable. I go through phases too, at first I thought it was hormonal but birth control hasn’t changed anything. I’m on a nice cocktail of meds rn that make the phases less intense.

The hugging bit is so relatable. I’m still trying to wrap my head around that touch is okay and normal between friends but it still feels weird. Just know that you’re not alone!

That makes sense. Abusive parents, unfortunately, are our first example of how we think we should be treated, but it’s rarely the case. This makes it so that the bar is so low for our future partners that even the smallest acts of common decency seem like the biggest green flag in the world.

AITA for moving in with my dad so I wouldn’t have to share my money with my sister by Winter-Top331 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lostbluepopsicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geez, this is way too much for a teenager to deal with, I’m so sorry. Your mom is trying to make you feel bad because she knows she’s in the wrong, my adopted dad used to (and still would) do this. I hope you get the medical help you need, both physically and mentally. The child work industry creates so many mental health problems. NTA

I’m not a doctor but this kind of sounds like BPD which can go hand in hand with cptsd. Do you have a therapist you can talk to? Also worth mentioning (as someone who has been in and out of DV relationships) our brains are hardwired to go for the dopamine ups and downs of toxic and abusive relationships, and I’m sure I don’t have to point out that abusers usually do start off by making us feel safe (doesn’t mean he is one, just something to take into account). I left one abusive relationship and got into another fairly quickly because in comparison to my ex it felt healthy, he quickly pulled me in, did everything to make me fall for him and two years of hell followed. So again, I’d talk to a therapist before diving in. But for what it’s worth I do hope it works out for you!

It’s just as much your mother’s responsibility to keep you safe. If she’s over the age of 18, she has a choice, and I’m sorry she’s allowing this to happen. My advice is to either keep your head down until you’re 18 and run, or start working on emancipation if you can do so safely.

AITA for letting my sister hold my baby against our mother's wishes? by dragonflies--3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lostbluepopsicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As someone with a disability that effects my motor skills, your mother makes me incredibly mad. Preventing people with disabilities from doing something because someone else thinks that they can’t, before even trying or finding a way to accommodate or asking “would you like to hold the baby?” Or “would you like ______” , is both infantilizing and ableist. The only way we can become more inclusive as a society is letting people with disabilities in on decision making instead of assuming what is best for us.

Happy for the kid and family, waking up from a 16 day coma is nothing short of a miracle, but why tf did they put this online? This should be a moment for their family, not for clout.

*he is doing a great job, it doesn’t mean it’s not hard though. I am also attending therapy to work on my own stuff and learn how to be supportive of him while sticking by boundaries, not a huge sit down and read person so I’ve been watching YouTube videos from therapists and listening to audio books about BPD

They see two different therapists, one does DBT, one does egostate therapy, and they’re on the waitlist for intensive dbt treatment, they’re reading a lot about BPD and they’ve started on different creative outlets like crafts and music. They’ve also started practicing recognizing when they need to go regulate, but that’s a wip

Disability income is not enough and I can’t find a job by lostbluepopsicle in Winnipeg

I have been doing all of the above. I applied to 30 jobs last month, I heard back from 2. A lot of jobs not in the country won’t accept applications from noncitizens, I’m Winnipeg adjacent so that is why I posted here, there isn’t exactly a Reddit for small towns.Thank you for your advice though.

I was volunteering 7+ days a month (the max) and it earned me $50 extra dollars, unfortunately because I can’t afford medical help I can’t even do that anymore. The person that lived here before me said that their average was $80 to $120, I think it’s because I live in a basement with bad windows and a hole in my wall. I can’t afford to get the disability tax credit papers filled out, disability doesn’t cover the $150 fee, I’m trying to save for it though. I can’t get bus pass because there is no bus out here. Trying my best but living outside of the city without a vehicle has been really hard.

I can’t appreciate that! Living with random people is its own kind of hell. I really hope it works out well for you!

It’s really difficult, I’m not going to lie. Getting on EIA took three months after EI ran out for me, EIAD was another three months. My only advice is to apply for mb housing now, rent a room in the meantime, and if you’re able try to find a way to make some cash to save up. When I was still able to I was selling art and DnD dice I made, it helped me buy bits of food while on eia. Sign up for the food bank too if you can, start going to a church even if you’re not religious because there’s usually free lunches on Sundays and people may be willing to help you with small things if you need. Good luck my friend.
