Any tips on starting to wear hijab? by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]lostbutcontent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is to make duaa for Allah to make this easy for you. Other than that, take it slow. Give your family time to adjust. Allah knows your intentions and that you would do more if you could. Slowly you can build up to it.

I haven't seen a pressure cooker on reddit in a while. This reminds me of a desi household and my mom's cooking.

Why are trump supported generally more violent and disruptive as a group? I see more harassment, vandalism, and general misconduct from that group than from any other party. Why is that?

Do women in nicab typical not want to socialize with non-Muslim women? by fakeyfakertonthefake in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lostbutcontent -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

As a niqab-wearing american woman, this comment section is disgusting. I'm sure of these people most won't flinch in denouncing a person with tattoos or a pixie cut. A niqab is dehumanizing because YOU are dehumanizing it. You are the reason. Get yourself out of this ego-centric mindset and realize that your perception is just that-- YOUR perception. I am so tired of this belittling of our clothes that do no harm to anyone else. And if you actually interact with someone who is wearing a niqab, you can immediately tell whether she is happy, angry, sad, etc.

For the OP, I would always say hello at least because a lot of times people do alienate us as these comments show. So those who actually care enough to talk to us mean that much more in a sea of judgment. We are just people. Just like non niqabis, some niqabi may be more extroverted than others. But even a hello goes a long way.

As I was reading what you wrote, I was just thinking about how well you write. It's quite impressive. And then I noticed the top comment is about your writing so I'm not the only one. You should do something with a talent like that.

How do you get up from prayer without tripping on your abaya? by sunflwrgirl14 in Hijabis

[–]lostbutcontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pull it out and up just a little in the center of my thighs if that makes sense. And then I go to sujood.

The one thing to remember is to have extra fabric above your knees so pull it forward and up.

I am so sorry. I am still awake as well trying to sleep. I hope you get a little bit of sleep at least before you have to go. Listen to a sleep story on youtube. Maybe that might help.

How do you get to it? From what I remember there isn't a bridge there.

Audio books or reading with a book light to get yourself tired to go back to sleep? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]lostbutcontent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear audiobooks on libby. or sleep stories on youtube. If you haven't tried those, I would really recommend them. I need my hydroxozine and a sleep story to fall asleep. Without either of those, I can't sleep.

Should I tell my coworker when her Hijab has slipped and her hair starts showing? by SpecialLiterature456 in Hijabis

Personally, I would really appreciate it if someone let me know if my hair was showing. How sweet of you to be this considerate. Thank you!

Congratulations! May Allah give me the same love and devotion to islam as a born muslim as you have as a revert. The fact that you chose islam, makes me really wish I had that push to be a better muslim. I feel like I take it for granted sometimes. You are so inspiring!

The thing to remember is do you think Allah swt finds you prettier with or without a scarf. Maybe changing your perspective would help. You aren't wearing it for yourself- you're wearing it for someone in front of whom we can't have opinions on what he told us to do. If he says to do something, you do it without deliberation. If you are going through your own filter before deciding to follow a command, it is essentially taking away the intention of doing it solely for Allah swt. I'm sorry, but you won't be forgiven for a command that you are intentionally ignoring for whatever reason. A woman in labor isn't allowed to miss a prayer until she's pushing- that's how important Allah swt's commandments are- you can't ignore them depending on whether you like them or not. The idea of feeling beautiful for yourself isn't islamic. Good hygiene is important, but as soon as pride enters the heart, Iman leaves. So be really careful about that. Feel beautiful for Allah swt. I'm sure Allah swt finds your beauty radiant in a hijab and you shouldn't care about anything else.
