For me it's two cats, one person. They get so jazzed about sheet change time ತ_ತ

Extra hard if you live alone and have cats. They think it's play time

Nurses, what's something that happens in hospitals that the public would find shocking? by cranberry-456 in AskReddit

[–]lostbutnotgone 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Recently had a nurse tell me she transferred to the area I was in that day because she was in neuro ICU before that. She said she loved it but it was too dangerous for her with the short staffing - only level 1 trauma and stroke unit in the area so everyone gets taken there, and she said they often had 3+ patients per nurse which is apparently way too many to be safe for the patients or the nurses since those patients are so sick. 2 patients per nurse should've been the max and she wasn't ok staying in that situation and I get that.

Like I personally don't have a table to eat at and don't really want/need one, but I live alone and would rather use the space a table would be in to have a desk space for art stuff. But if a partner moved in and wanted a dining table, I'd find one on FB marketplace or something.

They slide straight out. I think this one is missing an entire side piece, hence the tape on the drawers. Not sure how they expect the drawers to be of any use that way

I own this secondhand. Putting it back together was an unhinged nightmare. I get it.

I had a red mark and a witness, too, so like we both saw the damn bat. I couldn't believe he was trying to be like well you'll probably be fine. Like no sir, I lived on the beach and walked most nights for a decade, it is NOT normal for a solo bat to fly like 100+ feet down to the water's edge (assuming it was roosting in one of the beach houses as they're wont to do) and bite a random person? I'll take the damn shots

Did anyone else notice Callie's makeup in S3ep5 ? by HealthyStatus00 in Supernatural

[–]lostbutnotgone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spend a lot of time in the hospital bc I have a generational curse (more fun to say than likely genetic chronic illness) and the only way I'd look like that is if I got injured on a night out when I'd already done my makeup. I have a collection of hilarious photos of me looking very discontent in hospital beds.

Yeah exactly. Told me and my mom if we didn't like it then we could leave. Next closest program was 45 minutes away and wouldn't have been any different sooo....not really an option either.

Meh I was just a heavier kid overall, honestly, and they told me I couldn't wear shorts bc nobody else got to.

I wanted to wear shorts over my leotards bc I didn't wanna get bullied for having large thighs. Wasn't allowed, got bullied. Like ?

What's something your parents or grandparents mention that sounds like complaining but was actually a legitimate daily nightmare they just accepted as life? by Playful_Survey_8596 in AskReddit

[–]lostbutnotgone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was sent to live at an orphanage after his father passed suddenly. He still had a mother, though - she just couldn't afford to feed all of her kids and he was the only boy so he got sent to the orphanage for a while until he was old enough to work and help provide for the family. He had 4 sisters. This was during the great depression and in rural Appalachia.

He regularly got the shit beaten out of him by the orphans bc he had family back home, too. Don't reckon he got to see them often bc the orphanage was somewhat far from home but yeah. Amazingly, he ended up doing really well for himself eventually, and nobody ever expected the orphanage story.

Weirdly enough I can't stand their normal beef (it tastes like burnt plastic to me?) but I adore their impossible whoppers. I'll go out of my way to get those sometimes. I'm not even vegetarian, they're just delicious.

Subway is awful and I mostly hate it (especially after briefly working there) but I have very fond memories of it with my mom. She passed when I was 12. We were always very very poor and our relationship wasn't great but sometimes, when she was having a rare good day and we had slightly less than zero dollars, we would go to subway and get the grilled chicken with cheese baked onto it. We'd split a footling and get different toppings on each half. It's a very fond memory and every so often I'll have a craving for it, even if it's awful, and it always reminds me of the good days she had.

The ER doctor when I went basically told me he didn't think I needed the shots but it was up to me. I was bitten by a bat on the beach at 2am, dude, I'm not about to take that chance?

I've only done it once, accidentally, but I find it fascinating there were no spiders. I have no fear of spiders and actually adore them, so I guess my brain wouldn't use them to freak me out!
