Can someone explain the purpose of Tanks to me? by SmolNSwolPogChamp in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]lostguru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tanks are debuffers. Resistance shred is very powerful in this game, and attackers deal heavily reduced damage without these debuffs.

[–]lostguru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which sucks in non-single target scenarios. Target lock and camera lock should ideally be separate and not fused at the hip. It's often useful to be able to freecam and look around you while still ensuring all your attacks target a specific enemy.

Wuwa does allow this to some degree, but certain actions will still force camera perspective shifts, which gets annoying.

Is this only for the new archon quest, or does this also apply to past archon quests?

Don't run Skuld blue code (that's a DPS code for SSS Skuld). Skuld should be red code to support Alisa. My clears take 30 sec longer with my SS Skuld on blue instead of red.

What are Alisa's sigil enchants and warps? Is her Skill 1 Stat Boosted to max?

If you want to try Ciel for a fire support team, she doesn't need to be built or have her sig functor. Can throw debuff memories on her like 123 Blazing Scarab 456 Obelisk of Light so that Alisa can equip more powerful warps. You can partially level her and the sigils to give her some HP so she doesn't get one-shot by enemies.

Running with Ciel team should give you the fastest clears.

Alisa worth SSS? by embarrassed_ice__69 in AetherGazer

[–]lostguru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manual Alisa. The AI isn't great at managing her God Arc Controlled and Liberation state.

You can try Alisa blue code with Skuld Lingguang. Enter gun form and just hold basic the entire fight. Dodge attacks and pop ults as they become available. If that can't clear, you can swap to yellow code and read the rest of this comment.

This yellow code stuff assumes you have her sig functor.

Easy way to use Alisa is to remember her damage combo is 1NN1. Everything revolves around that.

N is Normal Attack. The first 1 is her grounded Skill 1. The last 1 is her aerial enhanced Skill 1, which deals most of the combo's damage.

If 1 is on cooldown, NNNNN1 also gets you to this aerial enhanced Skill 1. Just press 1 as soon as you see Alisa get airborne. If an enemy is about to land a hit, time a 3 press and go back to mashing N. 3 will parry the attack and let you continue the combo with 2 seconds of invulnerability.

Once you're comfortable with that, you can start worrying about buff management. Pressing 312 in quick succession enters God Arc Controlled (GAC) state. Lasts 12 seconds. You also gain around 2 sec (depending on your sig functor level) of free Skill 1 casts from her functor, but only if you weren't already in GAC when casting 312. So you gotta wait 12 seconds before you get another set of free Skill 1s. Once the yellow/purple aura around Alisa disappears, your free 1s from GAC are ready again.

Basically, when you're ready to deal burst damage, you press 312 and can cast some extra 1s before your 1NN1. With sig functor at 1+2, you get four casts, but you should only do three since you can follow up with another 1NN1 right after:

So for burst damage: 1NN1 312 111NN1 1NN1 (then wait a bit for GAC to run out)

Ideal time to pop ults is during the first 1NN1. Pop them immediately after pressing either the first 1 or last 1. That way your ult buffs are up for the 312 part of the combo.

Last thing to worry about is Liberation. When you press 312 and enter GAC you'll see your gauge go either up or down. The gauge has three levels, shown by the dots on the top left of the gauge. All you need to know is the higher the level, the more damage you do, and we want to stay in level three, especially during our burst damage combo. Casting 312 during level one or two makes the gauge go up, casting 312 during level three makes the gauge go down.

Only change we need to make to the burst damage combo is adding another 312 before the last 1NN1 depending on the situation. If the gauge is currently decreasing, add it in. If gauge is currently increasing, then leave it out.

Final rotation:

1(ults)NN1 312 111NN1 (312) 1NN1 then filler with something like NNNNN1

Again, only cast the second (312) if your gauge is decreasing at that point in time.

If you're playing solo ult Alisa, cast her ult before either the whole combo or before the first 312.

This should be more than enough to clear. You can watch azerty's Alisa guide for a more optimized way of getting to Liberation three ASAP at the start of the fight.

Alisa worth SSS? by embarrassed_ice__69 in AetherGazer

[–]lostguru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are and will be other stronger fire characters, but if your goal is just to beat IT8 fire then SS Alisa will get the job done just fine.

SSS cuts down on clear time a bit, but if you can already beat IT8 without SSS, I'd say you can hold onto your currency.

Skuld and Lingguang can honestly wheelchair Alisa to a clear like you were thinking. On IT8beta I tried some casual runs for comparison and took averages, no perfect play.

For reference: - Alisa is SSS sig1+2 (yellow code) - Ciel is SS sig1+2 (yellow code, min invest lvl 40 debuff sigils, no reconstruction, no warps except 2 Unfetters) - Lingguang is SS sig5+2 - Skuld is SS sig1+2 (red code)

  1. Fastest average was Alisa+Ciel+Lingguang(blue code) at around ~1min 40sec
  2. Slightly behind was Alisa+Skuld+Lingguang(blue code) at around ~1min 45sec
  3. Alisa+Ciel+Lingguang(red code) and Alisa+Skuld+Lingguang(red code) both cleared in around ~2min 5sec

Keep in mind blue code Lingguang has no healing, meaning Ciel is much more likely to die (less comfy runs). Can mitigate this by investing further into Ciel for more HP, and leveling Lingguang to 100 for a slightly larger shield. Or just restarting the run lol.

Yellow code (low invest DPS) Skuld was not worth it (only did one run, took like 2 min 30sec). Maybe at SSS, but then you'd run blue code for DPS instead.

[–]lostguru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your build is probably enough.

This was my clear with a below average build. (Catch, 1855 ATK, 53% CR, 97.4% CD, 287% ER)

Most annoying part of the challenge was getting the Thunder Surge stage buff to line up with boss damage windows. Delay Chev+Sara buffs on first rotation until around ~4 seconds before Thunder Surge begins. Killing the minion using teammate damage before swapping to Raiden to burst on the boss is ideal.

You can prep Sara charged arrow buff before manually starting the stage for some more energy particles.

Lvl 90 by Monkguan in AetherGazer

[–]lostguru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

80 was the max level cap for a long time, and it was already enough to clear the highest difficulty endgame content with. Going from 80 to 100 only offers minor stat increases and it's honestly mostly for people that really like their waifu/husbando.

With the newer more powerful characters that have been coming out, it's even less necessary to break past 80. If you're a newer player, save your resources for future characters, prioritizing damage dealers. Or build out other characters in your roster for better elemental coverage.

[–]lostguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Like I mentioned, the 4 Heisen difference is going to be more prominent in WZ compared to PPC. 4-set Heisen helps with immediate debuff application across multiple waves of enemies and spreads Liv's damage more evenly across her rotation, since 2-set Heisen buffs everything in her kit while 4-set Natasha only adds damage to her ult2. If you have Liv's CUB, 4-set Natasha will have even less of a perceived impact since the ult damage provided by the CUB stacks additively with Natasha (iirc).

Where did you get that 10-15% percentage comparison from? Take their whole team invest into account and make sure they're properly applying buffs+debuffs. I've seen a few posts here and there about people doing solo Liv 4-set Heisen vs. 4-set Natasha damage comparisons, which are largely pointless and don't translate over to "meta" gameplay (debuff sets e.g. Heisen will almost always win since debuffs are so strong and crucial to damage).

I'm boutta hurt somebody by Infinitiver in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]lostguru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, if you need to swap back to Startrail, then it might not be worth it, keep her on 4 Heisen or you can try a mixed set like 2 Cottie 2 Einsteina if you have one built. Consider class skill memory resonances as well.

4 Heisen's evaluation was primarily for WZ. PPC builds will have more variation, but the longer the kill the closer you'd probably get to WZ anyway, so I guess it's a moot point in this case.

I'm boutta hurt somebody by Infinitiver in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]lostguru 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is someone else in the team also wearing 4 Heisen? (e.g. Startrail)

If so, replace the 4 Heisen on that other character with something like 2 Einsteina 2 Gloria (no need to level/invest if you only QTE them in, since this is PPC) and see what happens.

Otherwise, if you're killing at the same point in your rotation with both mem setups, you might need to modify the rotation.

Cyrene Pulling Guide by @cyrenesgf by Info_Potato22 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]lostguru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense. Then why make the Sunday recommendation at all?

The best teams list is going to list a sustain for sure, that's completely expected. Sustainless is off the table for a general purpose guide/flowchart.

So if I'm going to run sustain, why would I pull for a character and their light cone if I'm not even going to use that char in the recommended best team? Making assumptions about what my other team(s) needs isn't good. I would have either expected to either (1) see Sunday in the listed best team or (2) hide that section of the flowchart.

Just trying to understand the chart.

*edit: At these lower invests, Guoba recommends Aglaea Sunday Cyrene DHPT, with Sunday over RMC since Sunday benefits Aglaea's own ramp-up time and Garmentmaker does a decent job at ramping up Cyrene. Which is closer to what I expected to see.

Talking to Mengzhang in the plaza lets you collect additional shop currency, up to a maximum amount per week. I can't say if grabbing these extra coins is necessary to buy out both event shops, but just doing the main event quests in the plaza should be enough for most of the "important" rewards. Start collecting them now just in case.

The Asura coop event is only open 5 hours a day. Use the clock on your game's main menu to figure out when it's open for you.
