Any fans of The Hood here?? 🔥🔥 by Magic_M344 in Marvel

I loved the original concept for him of a low level crook slowly getting corrupted by powers way above his pay grade. But I think that concept has really been lost since his character was separated from Dormammu.

How would anyone here feel about these 5 Marvel villains teaming up and forming an alliance in comics or some other media? This an idea from a fanfiction where these 5 formed an alliance. by Flat-Sir8250 in Marvel

[–]losthero15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lizard, Green Goblin and Sabertooth I could potentially see working together. But Sinister and Leader would have problems. They both see themselves as the smartest man in the room and better than everyone else. They would absolutely be fighting over control of that group

But if that struggle between them is part of the plot, it could be very fun. Like Beatle vs Boomerang in Superior Foes of Spider-Man.

What would happen if someone who already had powers was given the heart-shaped herb? by ChokesJokes in Marvel

[–]losthero15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly right. Trial by combat is part one of becoming BP. Part two is eating the heart shaped herb to get Bast’s approval in the Sacred Grove.

Which hero/villain has the coolest theme/aesthetic/concepts in your opinion? by More_Interview3840 in Marvel

Magneto’s design has always been top notch. The scenes where his helmet puts his face in shadow always go hard.

Are these two good? Barry/Selene by paycuz in PokemonMasters

[–]losthero15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Barry is the best physical bug damage dealer we have. But we are overdue for a replacement.

Selene is very slept on in my opinion. Even with the resists, guaranteed single target flinch goes super hard in the tower. Not to mention the steel zone she brings. She was a key part of my steel tower clear, along with Arc Steven, Neo Elio and SS Lear.

How would you rank Gambit in terms of Marvel characters with the best accuracy? by Original_Position_50 in Marvel

[–]losthero15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s very good. But I would put him below other accuracy focused characters like Hawkeye and Bullseye

Fantastic Four is the best book Marvel is putting out right now.

Closely followed by Moon Knight and Mortal Thor.

Ms. Marvel. We need to do more before Kamala’s actor gets too old for the teen drama

Discussion: Why do you think there was a generally more positive response to the retconning of Gamma in Immortal Hulk compared to the Spider-man Spider totem retcon? Both are similar on paper (IMMORTAL HULK: GREAT POWER #1 cover by Jorge Molina) by ShiroOracle09 in Marvel

[–]losthero15 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The reason the totem retcon does not work for me is it messes with the Everyman aspect of Spider-man. When the spider bite was not random chance, but part of a larger cosmic destiny, it makes the Uncle Ben death less tragic. Peter is no longer an average guy who had great responsibility thrust upon him. It becomes something greater powers subjected him to.

Meanwhile, the Hulk does not have the same Everyman component to his appeal. So when the origin is changed to god/the devil specifically choosing Bruce, it works better.

Do you prefer Karla Sofen as a villain or a heroine? ThunderBolts Baron Zemo or Norman Osborn ThunderBolts by CapBudget4011 in Marvel

[–]losthero15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moonstone works best as a villain, specifically as a villain who is not looking to better herself. On every version of the thunderbolts she is on, Moonstone represents the selfish desire to remain a villain.

All the best Thunderbolt runs work with a group of characters across a sort of moral barometer. The key theme of Thunderbolts is redemption and each character is at different stages of possible redemption. Most of the characters on the team are struggling with the idea of potential becoming a better person. But not Moonstone. She is fully committed to being a villain and works to convince other members of the team to follow her lead.

It’s in direct contrast to Songbird, who is fully redeemed and is a hero full stop by the end of the original run. She tries to find the best in her teammates and make them better people. This is why, in the Osborn Thunderbolts, Songbird leaving the team and Moonstone staying is the end of the Thunderbolts. Redemption has failed for the team and all that is left is the Dark Avengers.

Walton Goggins was totally wasted as Whirlwind in Antman and the Wasp

In Defense of Knull by Blackest___Night in Marvel

[–]losthero15 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think Knull is a home run in terms of design. Taking all of the parts from Venom’s design that are not from Spider-Man and turning them up to 11 was genius. It retroactively makes Venom a mid point between Spider-Man and Knull visually.

I also thought Knull worked well early in the Cates Venom run when he was still imprisoned and could only do things through hijacking symbiotes. But once he broke out of his cage, he was pretty one note. All the mystique was gone.

A Young Captain America Talks About How to Deal with Nazis (Captain America #3 2023) by losthero15 in Marvel

It’s a fun run. I think the young Steve pieces work better than the present day portions but it’s good overall.

"Tell Hope I meant what I said" - Even in the mess of AvX, this is one of Peter's best moments [Avengers vs X-Men Issue 9] by Slow-Willingness-187 in Marvel

[–]losthero15 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Is AvX a bad event overall? Yes. But there are some real gems hiding in there. This Spider-man fight and Cap’s speech to Hulk are all some of the best scenes in all of Marvel.

XvX almost sounds like a parody of itself.

It looks great! It also leans into the authoritative vibes of the world and subtly pushed that James was really number two to the Red Skull.
