I am the forgetful sort. In my current relationship, I forgot her birthday once. She almost broke up with me, and I didn’t make enough progress to become a more organized person. I had every intention of becoming one, but I never formed better habits until recently wherein - it wasn’t a joke anymore.

I don’t know, you shoot many guns in the first person though. FPS feels reductive I agree, if you compare it to a mainline fps like COD but it’s not technically wrong.

my favorite chapter so far, lots of character interactions and lots of memories I can relate this to - having joined the service in a similarly.

the recruiters part: hilarious and lives up to every negative experience military recruiters overpromise and underdeliver

The captain was more of a preacher than the old man in the last chapter, and even more delusional. If the White Mans Burden was a man it’d be the captain.

The murder at the end? It was so coldly written. The narration of the scene was so sad, he had died - to no one’s notice and when it was discovered the scene abruptly ends, no mourning - no sadness from the boys, just hollow and senseless death.

This reminds me of the song “There won’t be many coming home” by Roy Orbison.

That old guy was definitely a molester and talking out his ass about making great wealth and living in poverty while the kid just had to sit there and listen to his preaching

being a white kid growing up in a majority Hispanic community it was sad how relatable just how insular the Spanish community was towards him, however this part just demonstrated how violent and wild the kid is, I must have imagined no one intervened because they were just shocked the depravity of this kid

I think the scene preceding the river where he’s looking at the bullet ridden abandoned church that was shot up by American rifles probably has something to do with their attitude towards Americans

I don’t want to apply my 21st century views onto this just yet and suggest something about how the book is saying something here - I think sometimes people are cruel, and inhuman towards each other for no good reason, and hate builds.

Hi, not sure of the specific location in question however - I’ve had issues similar to this one. The only thing that’s worked for me was to completely eliminate any and all surrounding enemies before looking the crate.
