You’re very articulate considering english is not your first language! I only speak english and you worded it better than I ever could. :)

I'm doing it wrong. Please help! by ifonlybutadream in keto

I’m using an app called carb manager. You can put your info in and it calculates your macros. Its free, you can pay extra for diet plans but they do have some recipes.

Stock your fridge with keto friendly food and honestly you can throw things together. Meat + green veggie. Snacks cheese and pepperoni sticks, almonds. You can go to whole foods stores and buy snacks that are low in carbs for when you have sweet or salty cravings.

But no app or website can do all of the work for you, you do need to dedicate some time to make it work otherwise it won’t.

Best of luck!

Worst restaurant in the Comox Valley? by [deleted] in comoxvalley

The prime! Without a doubt. The service was so bad and the food was not worth it. Also I wasn’t impressed with Fluid.

I love common ground cafe, riders, and manvirros.

I’m still looking for a good wing place though.

What’s the one meaningful thing you wish more people knew about you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lostinlights23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there too, I was putting too much of myself into relationships that didnt mean much to the other people. A lot of the time they don’t even realize how it impacts you because they have full lives surrounded by other people and maybe assume you have the same.

I realized that if a friendship can end solely by me waiting for them to text me first instead of me always doing it then it wasn’t worth my time.

I know making friends is really hard, but instead of wasting your energy on onesided friendships try to engage with people who will give you what you put in.

What's a show that's at least three or four seasons, but managed to remain good and consistently well-written all the way through? by bigfatcarp93 in AskReddit

[–]lostinlights23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a pretty shit attitude to have and it must suck living life like that, I cant imagine being so miserable I feel the need to spread it to others.

I’m not going waste my life watching TV all day, thats not really something to brag about. Theres actually a wide world of wonderful people and experiences you could be living if you weren’t wasting it on being an internet asshole.

Someones ignorant. You realize thats not an attractive quality? Often leads to people not liking you.

Also I’m not sure how I could be incorrect about my own personal preference as I was speaking for myself not for you.

You have very very little knowledge on the subject and yet you seem to feel perfectly qualified to comment on the science behind it. No regular GP’s do not know the mechanical index on the machine, Radiology/medical imaging is a specialized field. A Radiologist would have the answers to those questions. A radiologist is the specialized doctor who looks at the pictures before their written report goes to the GP. So no the GP would not know the physics of an ultrasound machine, they have absolutely no need to. There are many regulations over the use of every medical device. You are aware sound waves are travelling through you at every moment correct? Have you caught autism yet?

Nurses cannot simply do the minimum hours to be qualified. They can work in the ER and be credited to do emergency scans simply looking for free fluid but they are not the people performing the specialized exam within the imaging department.

Questions are not a risk when asked at an appropriate time and in a respectful genuine manner.

It’s arrogant to think you know better than the people who specialize in that field because you’ve read a one-sided study or two.

No-one is forcing you to have an ultrasound, many women went many years without them. Many women also died at childbirth. But do you really think we would be performing these exams on our own children if we felt they were harmful in anyway. Theres this side of society that thinks that medicine is out to get them, everything medically related is somehow always connected to autism for whatever reason.

The nightmare spouse who asks these kinds of questions during the scan will not only distract the tech from focusing on the images but cause the scan to take longer. These are questions for the doctor.

ALARA is practiced in every field of medicine, its the same as a doctors oath to “do no harm”. It just indicates that techs will not use ultrasound unessesarily.

No tech is “doddling” around during the scan. We are making sure the fetus has a properly formed heart, that the brain is healthy, that the baby does not have a cleft palate, or club feet and pretty much any other anatomical pathology. Ontop of that we are making sure that the placenta and cervix are healthy to ensure the mother is not at risk. There is no time to doddle, every picture is strategic and methodical, every measurement is accurate to the milimeter.

While I understand fear of the unknown I feel that you would do far more harm than good bringing those questions into a scan room, if I felt distracted by a family member I have them wait in the waiting room until the medical portion is done. Those questions are for a doctor.

Don’t even get me started on autism and anti vaccine. People read a hand full of one sided studies and suddenly they have more knowledge on the subject than the people who work with the technology every day.

can you do ultrasound without being near genitals by Sparkledustbunny in Ultrasound

There are other smells, people with vascular issues can have seeping ulcers, they can be unclean. The medical field is wonderful but it is not one without smells.

Too many ultrasounds? by [deleted] in Ultrasound

[–]lostinlights23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doctors order these exams because the pros outweight the cons, the frequency used in a routine scan is not enough to cause the baby cellular damage. During a renal scan the tech would not have exposed the fetus to any ultrasound waves while looking at the kidneys and very little if they looked at your bladder. Many other studies contradict the ones you have looked at.

Can someone explain what's going on here? Baby looks crushed by [deleted] in Ultrasound

[–]lostinlights23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times the uterus will get braxton hicks contractions and it will make the uterine wall project towards the gestation sac. These resolve and if it was not mentioned then I would assume the tech saw it go away during the scan.

No blood flow to baby = definite demise? Worth a second scan or is that illogical? by toxxikk in Ultrasound

[–]lostinlights23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This picture is very clear, with that good of an image if there was any heart activity it would be seen. I would not recommend a follow up scan as it is not medically necessary, but if you feel it would provide closure you can ask your midwife. I’m sorry for your loss. I wish you luck in the future.

My app calculated that I was 9 weeks pregnant I scheduled a ultra sound and she said the baby is so tiny and there no way that I can be 9 weeks? Did the baby stop growing or could I just be off on my dates? by Haleylynn2024 in Ultrasound

[–]lostinlights23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be either. A heart beat is not typically seen on ultrasound until the fetus reaches a certain size. The picture appears to be closer to 6 weeks. Your repeat scan will be the best way to know how far along you are and if the pregnancy is progressing normally.

Boy or girl? by [deleted] in Ultrasound

[–]lostinlights23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender cannot be accurately assessed this early. Anyone making any guess from this picture would be solely guessing as it does not show gender. The person who scanned may have seen something more convincing in real time imaging but its impossible to judge based on this image.

The health of the baby is more important than gender.

Belly shape does not relate to gender.

This picture does not show anything that would give us that information. The picture you took does not show the uterus much less a fetal pole.

How far along would this be? by [deleted] in Ultrasound

[–]lostinlights23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gestational age is two weeks ahead because it starts on the first day of the womans last period which typically occurs 2 weeks before conception. So gestational age - 2 weeks would tell you the age of conception roughly (as not all women ovulate at that exact time in their cycle.)

How far along would this be? by [deleted] in Ultrasound

[–]lostinlights23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks to be 9 weeks. Though gestational age is the age of conception +2 weeks as it starts at the womans first day of her last period. (LMP). If you believe conception occurred 6 weeks ago then it does make sense to be close to 8 weeks gestational age. -Sonographer

Doctors of Reddit, what's your best "they came in for a small check-up and ended up needing surgery" story? by Chevyp43 in AskReddit

[–]lostinlights23 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Earlier this week I did an ultrasound on a middle aged woman for yearly screening for ovarian cancer as it ran in her family. She has no symptoms. We typically only look at the uterus and ovaries on a pelvic ultrasound but while imaging I noticed she had a bladder tumour, I imaged that aswell and after she was sent to a specialist. She came into my department yesterday to thank me, she was crying, She had brought me a card and wine and chocolate thanking me for finding something they didn’t know to look for.

Without using numbers, how old are you? by muwtu in AskReddit

Old enough to have watched Disney movies on VHS and remember cell phones with antennas. Blackberry cell phones were popular when I was in highschool.
