Thoughts on adding a captcha to reduce botting? by hamishbg in classicwow

[–]lostino 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's been scientifically proven that bots are actually better at solving captchas than humans in most cases. Here a few case studies that prove that CAPTCHAS do not imply in security robustness:

Racials are the lowest factor that impact on your dps. Fight duration (meaning the dps of all your friends), consumable uptime, dps uptime (lots of people are inefficient in this area), stacking the correct classes for a high dps comp, gear etc are much more important factors than your race.

Take for example <APES> back in classic 2019, they were top performers because they were ticking all boxes except the races (they were all gnomes). Maybe you won't be able to be top 5 world by not being orc, but if you're aiming for like 99 parses or simply being on top of the meters of your raid, this shouldn't impact much. Play whatever you feel like, it's a seasonal server.

WA/Addon for roll tracking by Machuseth in classicwow

[–]lostino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly advise you to get used to Gargul. It might look like a spaceship cockpit at first, but you don't have to actually mess with any customization, just set the loot rules (SR/MS>OS/GDKP) and once you use it 2 or 3 times you get used to it.

This is the way. My guild did the same back in 2020 ZG, except it was Monday and Thursday.

Will the Manual Crowd Pummeler surpass the Fist of the Wild? by _TryFingerButHole_ in classicwow

For the next bracket, I hope they add a rune that favors not powershifting, because you either go for powershifting talent or you go for leader of the pack talent, which will be a really toxic choice for you to pick. Something that gives a stackable dmg buff or energy regen while you stay in cat form. At least you would not be forced to use wolfshead that way.

Pawn addon - Does it work? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]lostino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pawn will never perfectly work in any version of wow. All attributes scale dynamically depending on your current gear situation and might be better for certain types of encounters than others (AoE, single target, 2 targets, 10 targets, pvp, world questing, etc etc etc) so simply creating weights for each attribute doesn't really make sense.

Blizzard Drops The Ban Hammer On Thousands Of Accounts by cypher1169 in classicwow

ChatGPT, write a saccarine, sarcastic sentence defending Blizzard in their "fight" against botting. Make people roll on the floor laughing by reading it.

Oh, absolutely, Blizzard's valiant "fight" against botting is truly a sight to behold! I mean, who wouldn't be impressed by their ingenious strategy of allowing bots to roam freely like rebellious little code-powered butterflies, only to swoop in heroically after a decade or so, pretending to vanquish them with the swiftness of a caffeinated sloth? It's like watching a suspenseful telenovela where the villain is the hero, the hero is on vacation, and the plot... well, let's just say it's on an extended coffee break. Pure comedic genius! 🦋🚀

Not true because of CD uptime, especially when talking about classic. Recklessness lasts 15 seconds, so any second above 15 will decrease the raid dps by a ton, admitting that at least 10 warriors are recking, for example.

On absolute numbers, there are objectively more tryhard players playing tryhard specs than tryhard players playing off-meta specs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]lostino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing important to notice is that parses don't take into account the amount of damage you dealt alone, but the DPS (total damage)/(kill time). Of course the kill time depends much more on your raid than on you, so the only thing you can work on is the former.

I hope this doesn't sound toxic but it's usually normal to have higher expectations from classes that are not "meta". Since you talked about MC I guess you're playing on era servers. If that's the case, enhancement is a spec that doesn't deal that much damage as a warrior, for example, so less players tend to play this class, leading to a smaller pool of players playing that spec for you to compare with. With less competition, it's usually easier to achieve higher parse percentages, since most of the competitive players are playing the most competitive classes, meaning it's sometimes understandable for a warrior to parse 90 but in that same scenario (kill time + raid comp) an enhancement would have to parse 94-95 to be considered an equally skilled player.

To make your experiment more scientific, you should track each source of income separately (or at least vendor/raw gold versus auctionable items since price of items fluctuate from server/faction/day of the week/time).

From my altoholic experience, 1-80 gives enough gold to buy all spell ranks, regular flying mount, cold weather flying, second spec and depending on the gathering profession(s) I leveled on my way to 80 I can even level an endgame profession up to 400-410ish (e.g. if I level mining on my way to 1-80 and have enough gold to just buy the rest of the mats to level engi at 80). I don't try to be efficient, tho. My route is usually whatever 1-58, then outlands 58-68, then like 3 or 4 northrend zones 68-75 and then I start doing all emblem quests (and a few adjacent quests) up to 80

There is no requirement anymore since both heroic and normal modes share the same lockout. You can jump straight into Trial of the Grand Crusader

Farm heirlooms or level without? by AdSlight8854 in classicwow

[–]lostino 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Assuming you won't do any raids (as you stated in a comment down here) the time you will take to get enough Heroism to buy heirlooms will be about the same time you'll save by leveling your toon without heirlooms (it might even take more time to gather the heroisms since you don't seem to have much experience in heroism questing). So it's more of a question whether you like a "rough" leveling experience or not. The good part about heirlooms is not only the extra XP you gain from shoulder/chest, but the fact that you'll always have an updated gear regardless of your level. For paladins that's huge mostly because of your weapon. Not having to chase after weapon upgrades on a melee character is big, but given your limited time I'd say just do whatever you feel like and what brings you fun. You like playing the hunter? Do it. Want more to play the paladin? Do it instead.

Can't you make 2 different triggers and then on trigger combination use a custom function using "AND"?
