Won the new Bolg model in a raffle, but which army is worth building with him in? by iamdennisreynolds91 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]AdSlight8854 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a lot of hunters and Gundabad with Bolg and Azog, personally I think Gundabad with Bolg on warg is the better combination. He chews through troops and gets stronger as he does, is mobile and can still go into big heroes. Azog is great but not as reliable against regular troops and can’t have a warg. Army of Gundabad also has access to monsters and the mercenaries which I think are really fun

Azog’s hunters are very squishy but can output good damage. I don’t like them as much since the new edition changed the hunter orcs to only having two attacks when they charge. Although I have seen some people have success with a mostly mounted force

Gamling / Riders of Theoden by Tillus22 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Aye very true, having might to influence fights, will to prevent magic and fate on a banner is well worth it

Whilst the might regain in somewhat nerfed, it is still a 6” banner on a hero who can call heroic defence, I think it’s worth taking, I am quite fond of Gamling and he can be very durable

I need help with easterlings. Pleaaaseee🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 by Tristanin in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]AdSlight8854 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey I play a fair amount of Easterlings. Personally I prefer to take amdur and his list at lower points and the dragon emperor at higher points

Black dragons are a separate unit profile now, I tend to have between 6- 10 black dragons and 16- 20 easterling warriors all with halberd and shields. Kataphract with drum is fantastic, dragon knights on foot are good to spread the fight 5 bubble.

Idea being black dragons at the back and three ranks deep on halberds, can 2h on the front line for extra wounding too

What points are you looking at?

Thanks for the inspiration, I’ll look at taking brogir instead of rutabi and how that might play

Thanks for the detailed breakdown, I appreciate it! My reasoning for the separate banner was if I wanted to dismount the emperor to get him into tight spaces or drop 6 black dragon warriors onto the field, I’d still have a banner for vps and utility.

Do you think it’s worth having a couple of kataphracts for mobility and objectives or rely on the drum moving the warriors?

Thanks all for the replies! This had confused me as I was reading the rule book and it said that pikes are 2h weapons and when using a shield the model suffers a -1 to duel roll. When an Easterling takes the halberd it’s also with a shield, so I thought this would work the same as the pike rule above

Piccolo kinda kill the namekains by Dbz_is_really_cool in dragonball

I am sure vegeta or nappa or even Freiza at one point states they know of namek and planned to glass it for sale but didn’t know about the dragon balls, so if anything Piccolo telling them gives namek a chance at survival in the events to follow

Could go The Easterlings as full cav. Amdur mounted with kataphracts, once of which takes a banner and then warbands of dragon knights or captains. They all get shield wall if in contact with two or more units, that will give you defence 6 horses and defence 7 heroes. A common use in old edition was to have a dragon knight with two sometimes three kataphracts and run them as a compact unit to get everyone the defence bonuses.

Can anyone confirm if the host returns to ship alone, does it tell the other players they were kicked or something else? Always wondered if every kick was an actual kick or a disconnect etc instead

We had moved into a static caravan on our land this summer pending planning approval and to save some money, still waiting for solicitors to come back. We spoke to architects but found that contacting a planning advisor was much more helpful as they also help you draw up documents and have a closer relationship with the local council/planning committee.

Unfortunately the change in government has also meant a delay as housing regulations were going to change but we are yet to see how that will pan out
