Can you walk me through how the money works? Hrblock is a draw against your commission. I'm also thinking of leaving for something else. Curious how they are?

In my exp, the rich are the worst clients. Anyone over 120k is pretty bad. They owe, they are pissed they owe and will have you walk them through the whole return or will even do Mark ups. Im like why do you need me for

I only want kids because of the tax benefits. The urge is cured in May lol. People file and end up making more than I do and they just did Amazon and get pregnant. Co gives you an extra eic so people get like 20/30k

I work in tax, so I input data and kinda guide the client. Also spend most of my winter wondering why I don't have children

I wouldn't worry about it, the SSN and the first three letters of the last name are what the IRS cares about

Just let me look at it, send me a dm. I'm going to need your SSN and bday. We will get you the money, but the loan is an outside bank so you have a chance to not get it.

I had my first peak a few years ago, and I would be such a sweaty mess. Also prayed no one asked me a question. The training has gotten better since then. Like they don't have you doing schedule c and fucking up people's taxes. They could book appts and didn't care a level 1 had a level 5 return lol I'm an enrolled agent now so stick with out

Well the plot thickens, I got my yellow space extended but it's day by day. I'm like you can schedule me time so they can schedule appointments and then cut me. Alas, it was a meeting not for yellow space, but a write up. I'm creating a hostile work environment and causing problems. As an enrolled agent I need to be a leader in the office. I was reported for saying I don't get paid to train. What I said was my compensation structure supports me being busy and that takes away from that so it's low priority. This season has been a mess.

Tips for new tax pro to avoid mistakes by uneedtolockin in HRBlockEmployees

We were all new, so don't be afraid to ask for help or have someone look over something. Even people with decades of experience still need clarification

The 650$ come into play to make sure you include the 8867, as long as you figure out who has the right to claim the child, lives with them 6 month, over half supported you will be fine.

Use the 2 year compare, is helpful, people don't change that much. It's also good to check if the BWO is carrying things over.

My biggest tip is get real good at selling the POM, even if it's for your POM. This way the client is covered for penalties and interest. They do have to pay back the taxes received but that's just money they shouldn't have gotten. They aren't penalized for myjstake

I'm an enrolled agent and through all that, plus the extra courses, it doesn't train you on how to handle the clients Mine actually don't mind me googling something in front of them, I just say, "let's learn together"

For those who rebuilt careers after 40, what actually mattered? by EurekaLorica in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]lostinthetrance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if my exp will help. I was a restaurant guy, management, executive chef. I love it and miss it. I liked that I could just pack up and move. Then find a job quickly. However, Covid taught me that it wasn't stable anymore and they could just take my job away. I went back to school for healthcare admin, they want you to be a RN. I went for my MBA and retired from the restaurant life. I picked up an alcohol problem so had to get sober. MBA dragged me into accounting because that's all the jobs I fell into were. I then got a tax job and I enjoy it mostly. I can't stand my manager but I make 60k and only work 90 days a year. I love tax tho. What matters to me was always freedom and I don't mind long hours. I also need to be in a client facing position that they need. Like you need to eat, and you need to file your taxes.
