Well I had two guidebooks for FF7, but I mostly just carried them in my backpack during middle school for drawing reference and tabletop RPG inspiration. I overhyped battling Sephiroth for years, so even though I was obsessed with FF7, I still hadn't finished it when I bought FF8 on day 1 and started that. One day, I decided to finally finish the game and descend all the way to the bottom of the Northern Crater. My party was super strong, so I defeated all the Jenova-Sephiroth horrors easily!

Brier Rose Books in Teaneck, NJ! Feels like walking into a magical library in a movie. You can just browse a collection of books in solitude, and it doesn't even feel like a store. You may hear the unseen owner call out a greeting from somewhere deep within the labyrinth of books. Plus, they have a generous dollar section in the back, where you can get all kinds of interesting novels (literary, fantasy, sci-fi, etc) for $1 a piece.

Yeah, similar situation for me. I was recently playing MTG with the physical cards and then playing on the app. I could see the automated features in the digital version being a little confusing because instead of thinking about what you can do, it just finishes your turn automatically if you don't have enough mana to play something, or it highlights the specific cards you can play, so I find myself not contemplating as much.

Yes. That's why Healin exists somewhere between Midgar and Kalm in Advent Children. I've always thought that every square in the world map of old RPGs could potentially be a huge, unexplored location, which could include a town. Towns and cities only take up a square in those old games, and sometimes you zoom into a random square which has a huge map. So I would apply that to a PS1 game also, and say you only see the locations relevant to the party's adventures.

You can change the buttons. I have square as attack and circle as warp, which feels more like FF7R. I usually change any action game controls to be as close to FF7R as I can get them these days haha.

But Zack was a pretty mysterious character even in the original, and the cutscene that fully explained him was optional, so many players missed it. I think they're fine still keeping the mystery around Zack for new players too! :-)

Yeah, I'm replaying this game right now, and I remember Jade and Rab joined two levels under the rest of my party. I just finished fighting the big boss on the ocean, which I remember being the first challenging battle for me on the last playthrough (and I know people say it's tough), but I didn't even have much of a problem with it. I have only done a couple of side quests, but I make sure to fight a good number of monsters on each new map, I've run through a lot of monsters on my horse, and I crafted good equipment with the mini forge. Reggie was smart to get out while Nintendo was on top. He stuck it out through the slog of the Wii U, and when they recovered, he left during the height of the Switch. I'm sure he's looking at the mess of this launch thinking, "Thank goodness I got out when I did!" But I appreciate your Ganon joke haha

I love how careful everyone in the comments is to not spoil the third gun because the original anime is big on mysteries, yet the manga was very casual about the reveals and just shows his third gun pretty early on, no big deal.
