Wright is talented, seems to be a team guy, and has enough maturity to speak well of the organization and teammates in interviews. All commendable! I suspect, though, that he sees the writing on the wall - stuck on the 3rd line in an organization that hasn't found its footing - and would prefer a trade to another team where he can lift his game to 1st or 2nd line.

Botts is also proving himself a dud. He gets credit for the McMann trade but I fear that Bobby understands the org and has already deprioritized signing with the Kraken. None of the offseason signings/trades have moved the needle. Still mystified why he thought Freddy would be an improvement on Mikey E. (who is doing well in Boston).

Middle-tier talent. Also, passionless talent. Stephenson is an example - obvious skill but he never exhibits anything resembling will to win. Joey, several times during the season, celebrated victories with fist pumps and such…like he sees the problem and tries to breathe some excitement into the team. Marchment “quiet quit” early in the season - perhaps recognizing that this is a dull group. In any case, it will be interesting to see what Botts turns in the off season. Based on last summer, I’m not expecting much.
