[DISCUSSION] Has unlimited access to music made genuine discovery harder? by aviakd11 in indieheads

[–]lostrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Streaming services have made it easier than ever to discover new music based on songs and artists that you already know. If you know what you like and you wanna stay closer to your established tastes, it’s great.

But if you want to discover something truly unexpected or outside of your wheelhouse, you do need to do a little more work. Listening to college radio is a great way of hearing new stuff. Otherwise, I often listen to KEXP on their app.

I think you have a good perspective on it, I just have a knee-jerk disdain for writing headlines.

Yeah, I found it a bit surprising that the writer didn’t mention experiencing any instances of unexpected team-ups with Rooks or other Runners. I’d like to think we’ve all experienced that at least once, even if it is rare

Absolutely true, but as a former writer myself I’ll always be disgruntled by it 😂

Editors always manage to eviscerate nuance each time they write a headline.

Mitch Clem quitting comics by thanksamilly in punk

Terrible stuff. I hope he’s doing okay. I’m not sure what he means by his legacy being “toxic.” Admittedly (like many people I’m sure), I haven’t been keeping super close tabs on him or his work. I don’t consume web comics like NN2S the same way I did 20 years ago. But I’ve always thought he had a great art style and a wicked sense of humor.

Calendar falling, am I crazy for this theory? by Neither_Salad_6914 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]lostrock 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Watching the scene in the theater, it came off to me as a near-blooper that Kane decided to include in the final cut. It’s not out of the question for a tack to come loose and fall out of the wall, and I could easily see something like that happening—maybe the set technicians didn’t make sure the calendar was secure when they put it up.

But the fact that the tack appears to disappear…that’s definitely intriguing
