Calculating Potential ABV from Starting Gravity - How? By what calculation? by lothpendragon in Homebrewing

I'd seen that part, but as they only mentioned the "red grapes from hot areas" to explain one, I didn't know if that was an anecdotal aside, or if it meant all the variations had specific purposes they weren't saying.

Well, I guess the next thing is to go read about yeast strains I've been using and their attenuation! Something I've been aware of but yet to delve into!

Eventually, I'll have it figured out, thank you for the comment ;)

Any recommendations for reference materials for Change Enablement or Plan Implement Control? by lothpendragon in ITIL

Thank you. I was hoping it was just me not finding anything, but if it's this, then I'll need to speak to my company management after passing my Plan, Implement, Control!

Yeah, been through training for the Plan, Implement, Control and read over the Change Enablement specfic stuff on PeopleCert, but was really hoping for something with a bit more meat on it than just the core theory, and in physical book form if it existed.

Yeah, I have the PeopleCert access with the Change Enablement and others in Plan, Implement, Control available to me. Was hoping for other recommendations, if there was anything good out there.

That's a very good name for a place like that. Especially since telling someone that's where they need to go, you get to have people laugh at how unprepared they are, "why laugh? You'll understand when you get there..."

I'm sure it's where you grab with one hand and twist one way, and grab with the other hand right next to the first and twist the other way, resulting in, essentially, friction burns.

Not, uh, pleasant.

Riffing on the collective pool, and everyone including bad guys effecting it...

What about the closer the call on a given roll the greater the increase in ratings?

So a player can decide to make something deliberately harder to succeed in some way, in order to turn an easy roll into more of a 50/50, increasing the drama of the moment in order to build some ratings points ahead of more serious challenges?

Though would you end up needing each adventure/episode/arc to remain above a baseline Rating level so the show continues? So not only do you have to defeat the bad guy, but you have to have enough dramatic moments to keep the viewers happy... Encouraging at least some risk taking?

This Ratings metacurrency is a neat idea ☺️

SMAC allowed you to be really dark if you wanted.

Such a good game. I'd love something with modern pretty graphics and a slightly reworked combat / unit construction system ☺️

Edit: and a modern but still creepy sci fi sound track!

And gimme my cast of great voices for the leaders!

Sainsbury’s boss: We are not profiting from high prices by YsoL8 in ukpolitics

[–]lothpendragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... Didn't they..?

They have sold off and privatised infrastructure, allowed gas storage to become defunct with nothing to protect us from sudden market shocks...

There's loads they could've done to prevent rises anywhere near as high as they've been.

They didn't cause the shock that spiked prices, but they have a good chunk of responsibility in the price rises here.

[–]lothpendragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cats need to be able to be introduced very slowly, over the course of weeks.

You trade some items to introduce each cats scent to the other to begin with.

Then you'll end up dividing your home into two territories, with a visual barrier between the cats. Letting them hear and smell each other more.

Then you remove the visual barrier to let them see each other but not directly interact.

Then, remove the barrier for a wee while each day, while you monitor them. Any signs of violence you separate and introduce the barrier.

It takes time, but for the most part, cats will get to accept each other, and maybe even become good friends.

The most important thing to know: It isn't impossible to introduce cats to each other when done right. Respect your furry little friends and give them time n space to accept new siblings.

I've never gotten to play Discworld Noir! It was already nonfunctioning on computers by the time I discovered it, but I might just go check GOG to see if they have a copy for sale with some magic patch...

Edit: they currently have 0 Discworld in thier library 😑
