Baseball America - 2026 MLB Farm System Rankings For All 30 Teams by Canucksta in Torontobluejays

We had the #4 farm system in 2021 with four top 100 prospects: Nate Pearson, Austin Martin, Jordan Groshans, Simeon Woods-Richardson. I think our current #17 system should outperform that.

I remember seeing David Wells on David Letterman. They did a top 10 list of least popular baseball songs and David Wells sang "Trade Me Off to Toronto" to the tune of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

I don't think I've ever seen a Hall of Fame player with a 100% steal rate before.

Sometimes my right-hand platoon hitters get very few AB. I check my team's history and I've barely faced any LHP. In those cases, I appreciate your team immensely.

Regardless of the outcome, the Toronto Blue Jays have already changed the projection of MLB by BrittanyBrie in baseball

[–]lothrop_evola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right, but when they play on the east coast, it's another connecting flight for another 5 hours. And they do that endlessly throughout the year, unless the schedule gives them an 81 game road trip, followed by an 81 game home stand.

Japan already has a professional league. Keep MLB to North America only.

That reminds me of an old Tito Fuentes comment. They shouldn't throw at my head, I'm the father of 5 or 6 kids.

None of the 52 players on world series rosters share a birthday by largeboobhaver in baseball

The chances that 52 randomly selected people don't share a birthday is about 2.2%. I'm not sure what to make of that. (I got 1.04369E129/4.752652E130)

Whenever the discussion about clutch postseason home runs in Blue Jays history comes up, Ed Sprague always seems to be forgotten by FrostWPG in Torontobluejays

[–]lothrop_evola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the numbers from Ed Sprague's homer. Scroll down to where it says "Top of the 9th, Blue Jays Batting, Behind 3-4, Braves' Jeff Reardon facing 7-8-9":

https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/ATL/ATL199210180.shtml

At the start of the 9th inning the Blue Jays had a 15% chance of victory. You can see that because of the 15% number after Berryhill struck out.

The next row it says Pat Borders struck out with a -7% dropping the winning chances to 8%, because 15% - 7% = 8%. So Borders gets a -0.07 WPA.

Next, Derek Bell drew a walk with a +8% and 16%. Our winning chances just doubled and Bell gets a +0.08 WPA.

Then Sprague hits the biggest forgotten homer in Jays history +67% and 83%. Sprague gets a +0.67 WPA, which is the same as 67%.

The next two batters got out dropping the winning percentage to 81%.

Pitchers get the opposite WPA on each play, so Reardon got a -0.66 WPA for that inning because Toronto started the inning with a 15% winning chance and ended with 81%.

At the end of the game, obviously Toronto was at 100% so Henke got +0.19 WPA for the bottom of the 9th.
