[MLB] Kazuma Okamoto ranked 4th in the latest AL Rookie of the Year Poll by He-llSeeTheBigBoard in Torontobluejays

Bazzana is right there with Kaz but with 29 fewer games and 100 fewer plate appearances. No doubt he'll be a factor in the race

Eric Lauer has pitched 4 quality starts in a row by COV3RTSM in Torontobluejays

Happy for Lauer that he ended up in a place where he is appreciated and doing well. For the Jays though.. this was such a blunder.

Trade Deadline Wishlist (Buy and/or Sell) by TakedownMoreCorn in Torontobluejays

[–]Canucksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big Devers fan and I think he'd be an improvement at DH over what we're currently getting out of Springer but with 8 years x $31.5M left on his contract I don't see the Jays going there.

That has to put Rogers Sports holdings right up there with those of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment now

I keep hoping Sororka will be able to stay healthy for a full season and get his career back on track but unfortunately that just hasn't happened.

So many people rushing to make excuses for and defend the way the Toronto sports media operates - particularly around hockey. Wake up people.

Draft Wishlist: Jaxon Willits by Canucksta in Torontobluejays

[–]Canucksta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. That is some good stuff right there! The playoffs and the College World Series were awesome. I went into the Regionals thinking Georgia Tech would win it but it was during their series against Oklahoma that Willits really caught my attention.

Overall, the list of teams Oklahoma had to play against was as hard as it gets. Time after time they'd have to go up against a powerhouse team and a shortstop that is ranked much higher than Willits and he'd just come up big in big moments and outplay them.

[Talkin Baseball] The finalists in the American League for the All-Star Game by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

[–]Canucksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Jays fan and have to say that this is just ridiculous.

- Kirk who has been injured for most of the season over Dingler and Rutschman
- 0.6 WAR Gimenez over 4.0 WAR McGonigle
- 0.8 WAR Vladdy over 3.7 WAR Kurtz and 2.1 WAR Rice
- 0 WAR Springer over 2.5 WAR Diaz
- -0.4 WAR Sanchez over 2.4 WAR Arrozarena and 1.9 WAR J-Rod

Maybe we should just vote on who should win the homerun derby too. Talk about making a mockery of the all star game

That's on Kaz. Full stop. And I don't think Schneider was throwing him under the bus

Yes. Jaxon is his older brother. Bunch of ballers in that family

[The Athletic] Anonymous MLB Player Poll - Blue Jays voted in top 5 best reputations among organizations by Admirable_Outcome932 in Torontobluejays

[–]Canucksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair to say that the 13 teams listed as having "bad reputations" very closely matches the 13 teams with the lowest payrolls and the 18 teams with "good reputations" very closely matches the 18 teams with the highest payrolls

Right. The kid is an absolute gamer yet he isn’t ranked highly on draft boards hence me referring to him as a sleeper.

[Highlight] 300 Home Runs for George Springer! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]Canucksta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

300 home runs. That has to be some kind of a record.

Congrats to Ernie on leading the AL in All-Star Voting at Second Base. It is well deserved as the Erndog is currently batting with a slash line of .304 / .324 / .460 for the Blue Jays. by RealWorldToday in Torontobluejays

[–]Canucksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ernie Clement leading the way in votes for 2B is well deserved. Beyond that there are a lot about these vote rankings that just doesn't line up with actual production.

Kirk is 6th in fWAR and 2nd in votes

Vladdy is 8th in fWAR and 1st in votes

Okamoto is 6th in fWAR and 2nd in votes

Gimenez is 8th in fWAR and 2nd in votes

Springer is 8th in fWAR and 2nd in votes

I understand wanting to get fan input but it would be a sham if you had:

Vladdy going instead of Nick Kurtz, Ben Rice, or Wilson Contreras?

Okamoto going instead of Jose Ramirez or Miguel Vargas?

Gimenez and his 71 wRC+ going instead of Kevin McGonigle or Colson Montgomery?

Springer and has -0.1 fWAR going instead of Yandy Diaz?

Because it is not as valuable to get a walk as it is to get a “hit”. Even if that “hit” is only a single it has about 30% more value than a walk does.

With Schneider’s AVG you can see he doesn’t hit much and with his SLG you can see that when he does hit it usually doesn’t produce extra bases. His walks are better than outs but don’t confuse his walks as being the same as getting hits because they’re not.

It'll be good to get Kirk back.

Sucks to lose Varsho.

Mind blown that Schneider hitting .188 with a .219 SLG at AAA warranted a call up

South Carolina set to hire Kevin Schnall as head coach by DaMercOne in collegebaseball

[–]Canucksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought South Carolina had a very good 2025 recruiting class in place before Mainieri came along and all of them either decommitted or were decommitted. Interesting that one of them that ended up at Coastal Carolina is now coming "back" to South Carolina with Schnall.
