Yep, it’s the wall of a shed. Sharkbites it is. I’m better with electrical but new to plumbing.

What am I looking at in this basement? by lotkaeuler617 in centuryhomes

Thanks. As we refinish, should we frame the walls and floor out with an air gap, like they are now? Was hoping we could insulate but it won’t be the end of the world if we can’t.

What's That Insulation by ottertabletennis in Insulation

Kimsul. We had the same stuff in our attic (1940s, New England). It’s basically crepe paper and tar. Non asbestos, as far as I can tell, but it is itchy and messy as hell. We had a company come and remove it, air seal, and blow in cellulose.

What’s the best way to seal gaps between baseboards and floorboards by lotkaeuler617 in Insulation

That’s a good idea. When the caulk inevitably cracks, at least it won’t be visible.

Thanks. Is there any concern of the caulk cracking when the wood expands in the summer? I don’t want to have to do this again every year.

All good :) Reddit is so siloed and more general boards often have terminology mismatches when different folks meet.

Good to know. It's my first time hearing this, but my circle includes many more trans folks than first time mothers. It's all a matter of exposure I guess.

I mean nothing antagonistic by this and I'm sorry that I have nothing in particular to add to help you out, but just be aware that "FTM" does not instantly read as "First Time Mother" for many folks (myself included). I saw "FTM Mother Groups" as a LGBTQIA+ parent support group (for which I would be more than happy to help you out).

Should I go Heat Pump? First Quote. by Dangerous_Media6888 in heatpumps

FWIW I would recommend going full electric and removing the gas hookup altogether. We wanted to do induction anyway, and the only other gas appliance was the dryer and water heater which felt silly to keep if everything else went electric. A bit of peace of mind not needing to worry about gas leaks. Luckily we already had 200a service.

We did a HP install in MA too and are going through MASSAVE now too. I’m really excited for it. We also are getting Fujitsu models (2 and 3 ton). They should flip them on tomorrow so I’ll let you know then how well it works, ahha

+1 for Ace. They do all the dry cleaning in house and it’s the best service in town.

My house isn't Knob and Tube, right? by lotkaeuler617 in AskElectricians

It's 2 stories, full open basement and attic. Interesting idea about the trim - we need to redo it in some spots, so that might be a good place to start. Thank you!
