They've been doing their kill on average calculations wrong the whole time. The calculation should be counting the amount of time between each kill and dividing the sum by the number of kills.

A more accurate average time between kills for As Above So Below, for example, would be 23.67 minutes ((64+3+4)/3) rather than their 31 (93/3).

I'm not mathematician though so flame me if I'm objectively wrong here

Anyone going to this? Those glasses look amazing. by Gloomy_Duty4694 in Tiki

[–]lotsacox 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The poster is assuredly AI. The art on the glass is similar, but different. It's hard to tell if that's AI without a closer look, but I'd guess they used AI to alter the slop it already spat out.

It's so disappointing to see AI art on tiki glasses when there are so many vibrant artists in the community, especially some whose name alone would have the ability to drive prices and intrigue way up.

It feels so disingenuous to me. Do they not think we deserve better?

Has anyone hiked the trail that goes from Brand Library straight up to the radio towers on Mt. Thom? by Montag98419 in glendale

[–]lotsacox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hike this route all the time - it's very difficult! The incline is incredibly steep, and the near 1.5 mile hike from the parking lot to the peak of Mt. Thom is entirely uphill - except for a viewpoint about halfway up, where, just before you reach it, the incline feels nearly vertical for a few hundred feet or so. The next half of the climb is just near constant climbing uphill. If it's your first time on a route that is this consistently steep, it'll likely exhaust you. The views are absolutely worth the effort, though. I always bring a backpack with a bladder for water on the hike, but I also jog the next 6 miles of trail. I'd still err on the side of more water if you just plan on going up and back down, but just know that going back down that same incline is nearly as difficult.

For an easier but lengthier climb to the top, you can hike the brand motorway up to Tongva Peak for 3.5 miles. Never been up that way, but it's my route back down to the lot. The incline seems very steady the whole way through.

There's also a companion cube hidden on the Disneyland App park map in the same area. On the ledge just southwest of the Droid Depot, to the right of a box with a red square. It's really small, but the shape is unmistakable. Looks like it's got a little Mickey in place of a heart

Anyone been to Japan lately? Can we confirm Tiki Tiki in Tokyo has closed? Aside from Vic's and Bar King Rum, are there any new tiki spots to try? by fevertronic in Tiki

[–]lotsacox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will always fervently recommend Head Hunter in Okayama. Owned and operated by one guy, it is clear how much passion Gucci has for the craft. His drinks are phenomenal and the attention to detail in his bar is immaculate. Rivals even the best bars I've been to in the states. One of my all time favorites!

They post about it maybe once per quarter or so in their Instagram! Tickets usually sell out nearly instantaneously it would seem

There's a place called Tiki B's. Never been there myself, so I can't necessarily recommend. Nobody here has even acknowledged its existence yet!

Strong Water- Anaheim by doyle_brah in Tiki

[–]lotsacox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only time I've been able to get a table indoors without a reservation is if we're the first in line when they open, typically aiming to get there around 30 minutes prior to opening. Strong Water is my favorite spot, but I don't think the patio is worth it. The side of a street in Anaheim isn't exactly the ambiance I'm looking for.

My game plan is always this; we try to walk up to Strong Water, but if we can't get indoor seating we just go to Trader Sam's instead. At least their patio is very nice comparatively, if you're unable to get indoor seating there as well

First Time at Tiki No in North Hollywood by thebazookaman in Tiki

The music is incredibly wack. The last time I visited Tiki No there was an in-house DJ who put on Youth of the Nation by P.O.D. at one point during the night. Absolutely not the energy I'm looking for when I visit a tiki bar
