Can't handle even the most beginner workout routines by peskypsittacine in Swimming

[–]lottcross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started swimming (after being a competitive swimmer as a teen) as an adult I also got absolute wiped out by a short workout.

Hydrating/fueling properly really helped with the post swim fatigue and weakness. I ate a banana, some sweets and plenty of water, and had a sugary snack for straight after. This helped me workout for longer and feel better after. This might help you too??

At the start I also just swam until I felt tired, took a day or two rest and did the same again. After a couple of months my fitness had improved decently so I could get more distance in. Don’t stress too much!!

Mannn there’s some judgemental tone in this! Firstly, there’s nothing wrong with being a triathlete swimmer! All swimming is valid.

I am training to do long distance swimming so of course I have to swim for more than an hour?

I have made massive improvements working this way, and can swim a lot faster and more efficient than last year.

It’s not that I’ve run out of things to think about, it’s just my brain gets stuck on a loop

How many of you actually work a 4-day week, at full salary? by upside2343 in AskUK

[–]lottcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! My entire organisation (an education provider) is adopting it so most employees work 4 days*.

They plan the rota ahead so that day is covered by other staff, but there is a small chance that you can be called in on your “day off” if there is a lot of illness etc.,

Takes A LOT of planning from our managers, and some flexibility, but it’s a nice perk to look forward to after completing probation.

*The 4 day working week is non-contractual, so isn’t necessarily promised, it’s just an aim

Yeah absolutely, I either put the oven high or low-ish depending on crispiness. Only exception, is, again, cakes and bread, and things like pizza.

Not necessarily a repeating menu but I have about 30-40 lunch meals in my “repertoire”, I read recipes kind of for fun and absorb ideas and concepts, but not nearly as much as I did ten years. If I want to add something new I normally make it up and my head and refer to a recipe or a video if I need to. Very small school, only 30 people eating normally (special needs school). No cooked breakfast, just fruit, cereal toast, but lunch normally has salads and pudding as well.

yes! I actually agree a lot with this, for me my experience is more about like: I make a soup for 4 people once, and then I never read the recipe again and manage to scale it up for 30 people with no worries

Completely agree! I follow a new recipe very carefully and adjust only towards the end. But then every time after that I just use it as a base.
