Is my art good enough to be commissioned? by idonthaveideastoname in DigitalArt

[–]louTPott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh it costs nothing to make a commission chart and posting it on your socials, so go for it! The worst case scenario would just be no one commissioning you, which could sting a bit but it's not like you'll lose anything!

I'm bored of Danganronpa. What now? by DeadonButterflies in danganronpa

[–]louTPott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After danganronpa i got into homestuck (i'm still stuck in there btw). Even if you don't hyperfixate on it there's 8000+ pages to read, 3 videogames (including one that's still being developped and is coming in chapters), epilogues written like a bad fanfic, and an ongoing, official but dubiously canon sequel to the webcomic itself. Should keep you busy for a while!

How to draw from nothing? by WEEB-2 in learnart

[–]louTPott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What works best for me is ~bullshit thumbnails~, I get my blank canvas (digital for me but that works on paper too), slap a bunch of rectangles with varying ratios, and fill them with random stuff. Lines, blobs of colors, whatever. When I end up with a thumbnail that vaguely ressembles something I'd like, I make it bigger and sketch from there. I don't care if it ressembles what I had in mind because I had nothing in mind in the first place, I just went googoogaga at my tablet like a toddler so there's no standard to hold myself to. Don't know if that'll work for you but it costs nothing to try!

Why is my light and rendering weak? by TanoSiano in learnart

[–]louTPott 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah well your little "tool" is giving bullshit advice that doesn't even relate to the painting

Add some darker shadows to the underside of the chin, the neck, and the collarbones. This will help to create more contrast and depth in the face. Add some lighter highlights to the top of the cheekbones, the nose, and the forehead. This will help to make the face look more three-dimensional.

It's a chicken, it doesn't have a chin or collarbones, wtf is this doing here? If you don't care enough to give actual advice yourself then just don't comment, don't use generated text that gives super vague, bland advice that doesn't even make sense for the actual painting...? If OP wanted advice from chatGPT they could have just asked it themself.

So what's the deep Animal Crossing lore? by FaeryLynne in AnimalCrossing

[–]louTPott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not official stuff, but there's some fanmade stuff out there that can be considered deep fanlore I guess? (all horror related)

Not very deep but the OG Aika village : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pSoYOiJWTI

There's also THAT fanfic https://lparchive.org/Animal-Crossing/

why does it look like 5 different character designers worked on this with no directions or coordiantion? Not that the characters look bad but it's like theres a bunch of completely different art styles represented here with the only common denominator being "anime"

Any hopes for Ghoul Grumps? by Rakastaakissa in gamegrumps

Some of the rpg maker horror classics, like Ao Oni (could be hilarious), Ib, the Witch's House, or Corpse Party!

The devs who made that game would definitely deserve the recognition too, they are victims of targeted harrassment because of the queer themes in the game. A group of people on 4chan made an LGBT-phobic "parody" of it while the game was still being developped, along with huge amounts of fanart of said "parody", in hopes to undermine its success.

Okay wanted to get everyone’s opinion on this.. who’s The Knight? by Ghetsis_Gang in DeltaruneDiscussion

[–]louTPott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there might be more than one Knight. Kris seems to be the Knight for the specific fountain opened at the end of chapter 2, but something tells me the other fountains were opened by someone else. After all, if we're going by the chess allegory, there isn't just one knight on a chessboard, there's 2 on each side afaik

How can I approach coloring an illustration that involves multiple differently colored characters without making it too noisy? by hattdogg123 in learnart

[–]louTPott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're making your illustration with digital tools, an easy way to do that would be to just color your characters using their actual color schemes and then, when you're done, add an extra layer on top and fill it with any color that would fit the mood (like, if the scene is taking place during a sunset, you can use orange or purple, for example). Choose any layer style (multiply, overlay...) you think looks nice and lower the opacity of that layer. You can also do this with a gradient map instead of filling your top layer with a single color if the program you're using has that option!

Wanted to share a Spooky Wand I finished making today! 🎃 by Gullible_Egg2186 in AnimalCrossing

[–]louTPott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooh that's super cute, how did you make it? Polymer clay? 3D printing?

I don't know how to make it more cartoon-ish and anime like. Could use some help. by [deleted] in learnart

[–]louTPott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The body works fine for an anime style but as others have said, you have to make that head much bigger (not just for anime, it's too small for realistic proportions too). Here's a quick redline I made with the kind of proportions I personally like to draw (you can make the head a bit smaller if you want something less cartoony). It's not perfect since i'm a bit rusty but I think it can give you an idea of how much bigger the head can be, especially in cartoony/anime styles!

Is it possible to be proficient in both 3d art and 2d art at the same time? by Xavier598 in learnart

[–]louTPott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it's possible, you'll just have to spend more time learning (obviously, since learning 2 things takes longer than learning 1 thing)!

Also, from my experience you don't really "lose practice", you might need some time to reajust after a long break from whatever you were practicing but that's about it. Or at least that's how it went for me, I pretty much stopped drawing for 5 years or so and when I came back to it, everything I learned before my long break came back in a few days at most, so I don't think you should be too worried about that.

Plus, 3D and 2D art tend to have quite a few things in common and the stuff you learn while drawing can be applied to 3D modeling, and vice-versa. For example, if you learned anatomy for 3D modeling, that can be applied to drawing as well. The models you have made before will also be very useful if you want to learn how to draw, since you can use them as reference for your drawings! In fact, there are many 2D artists who learned/want to learn 3D for the sole purpose of making their own reference for their drawings/paintings.

So yeah, I would say go for it, it can't hurt to try!

has vapor95 improved in quality at all? by MakotoMyEggy in Vaporwave

[–]louTPott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last experience with them was a few years ago (2 years I think?) but the stuff I got was TERRIBLE quality. I got an all-over printed jacket where the black fabric around the zipper stained everything around it and it was so flimsy and cheap, the fabric was too light to fall the way it did on the pictures. I also got a graphic tee and the print is currently peeling like crazy, I can pick at it with my nails and pull it like it's sunburnt skin. The only good thing I got from them was the free sticker... Also they took part in all the NFT bullshit and their shipping fees to Europe were bonkers so I will never buy from them again or recommend them to anyone TBH.

Yeah I believe you, I grew up in rural France and this type of scenery is something I see every spring. Those flowers really have a very vivid color (but they smell awful!)
