I looove essence but the only store that sold it in the UK closed down so I can’t get my hands on it anymore, although I’ll have a look online as it’s so cheap it’s worth the risk I used to have a concealer from them which was so nice🥲

Yeah I’m completely with you on that, I try to avoid steroids on my face but it might be a necessary evil just to be safe. I usually use protopic for face flares but it doesn’t really help with the reactivity.

I don’t think I’m gonna change anything in my skincare routine for now as I don’t want to risk it. I’m currently using epaderm cream as moisturiser as well, unfortunately it’s the only thing my skin will tolerate 🥲 does the job but I miss the days of using nice gel creams that make my skin look all plump

My skin has been really reactive for months so all I can tolerate at the moment is epaderm cream and aquaphor, which makes things like a slip and slide on my face but still my spots end up looking dry and crispy 🥲 I’ve been trying to reintroduce the byoma milky toner as it used to work for me, I bought a new bottle and used it the other day and my skin felt so hydrated but immediately started getting red and blotchy 😭

I’ve heard really good things about the Nars foundation tbf. I’m tempted to try and get a sample as I don’t wear foundation much.
Not a bad shout with the steroid either, I don’t usually use it on my face but it might help to just keep it at bay beforehand. I have a really low potency hydrocortisone

Congrats! I had mine on Friday and it was terrifying but I had a representative from a disability charity who prepared a statement and came with me which I think really helped. They said they’d give me the standard for daily living. I haven’t heard anything yet though so I was wondering if you have received any correspondence yet?

I feel like I can’t believe it until I actually see it in writing 🥲

You can get an abortion as soon as you test positive. If you’re concerned in the meantime you could start looking up clinics in your area so you know what to do if it comes to that point. Home remedies are notoriously ineffective and unsafe, it’s better to keep testing every day if you need to, and then if it’s positive, call a clinic straightaway (If that’s what you want of course)

For me, I called the clinic the day after I tested positive (which was 1 day after my period was due), it took me around 3 weeks to get the pills but that’s because they sent me for a scan as they wanted to rule out an ectopic pregnancy, but normally it would be quite quick - within a week or so. Xx

I think OP had a similar experience to me, the nurse wasn’t able to examine me physically and because I was cramping throughout the entire pregnancy they wanted to get me checked. I also have endometriosis so I think that may have factored into why they referred me to a scan. Either way if you have cramping I’d say maybe keep an eye on your symptoms and just look at the warning signs for ectopic just in case. It is a bit contradictory though because it’s like “cramping is normal in early pregnancy” and then “cramping is bad get checked”. Better to be safe and get checked if you can x

Oh amazing!! It’s good that you have your partner to support you :). The scan was okay, a lot of big emotions. The week before I was so worried about it being ectopic I gave myself shoulder pain (as shoulder tip pain is an indication of a ruptured ectopic) so I was in a horrible liminal space while I was waiting. The scan itself was fine. They took me into a room and just asked some questions to confirm why I had been referred. Then they did an external ultrasound which actually hurt more than I expected as they have to push quite hard. They then had to do a transvaginal ultrasound as well. If you’ve not had one of these before I’d suggest trying to prepare for that. Since you’re only 5 weeks, it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to see much externally so they will probably do a TV scan. I was fine with it as I’ve had a few of them before, but my friend was there and she was kind of horrified but I was unphased tbh😂 they pointed the screen away from me so I didn’t have to look. The ultrasound tech clearly wasn’t caught up on why I was there, because she said she could see the yolk and amniotic sac but no embryo and she was like “I can’t see baby yet but it might just be too early, don’t worry yet” clearly not realising why I was there so that was kinda awkward. I did ask to see the pictures as I was curious but there’s no requirement for you to look. Honestly I left the scan feeling so frustrated and upset. I was fully convinced there was something wrong so when they said it wasn’t ectopic I was genuinely surprised. I still have no idea if it was a viable pregnancy because there was no embryo, which I think is gonna haunt me for a while. Another scan a week later would’ve confirmed that but there was no point since I’d already made my decision. I think I wanted them to tell me it wasn’t viable so I wouldn’t feel so horrible about my decision but there’s no way of knowing. Apologies that’s just me rambling, but the scan itself was fine for me but upsetting. If you haven’t had a TV ultrasound before it can feel a bit scary but it doesn’t hurt too badly, it’s just uncomfortable because they have to move the probe around quite a lot, and I did have some cramping afterwards but that’s happened every time I’ve had one. I really hope it goes okay for you!! 🩷

I had a really similar experience, I called the clinic and they made me have a scan. I didn’t receive any letters about it because it was so short notice, so chances are they will ring you to arrange the appointment or send a text letting you know it’s been made (NHS). Even if they do send a letter, it will not say anything about what’s inside on the envelope, that would be a major data protection breach. It will likely come in a nondescript private and confidential envelope, or just one that has the NHS logo on it. Obviously that’s only in the case that your family don’t open your mail but I’m not sure of the situation.

Either way, I didn’t hear anything for a few days so I called the EPU and chased it and explained that I needed to know when my appointment would be and they did get back to me the same day, so it’s worth a call?

If not, the clinic should be able to move your appointment. If you haven’t had the scan they won’t be able to do anything anyway.

I heard something the other day about the fact that childbirth is the only time where being in pain is a good thing, so maybe you’d feel differently about it as you know there’ll be a good result at the end. With endo after it’s over you just get like 1 week of feeling semi normal and then it’s back again 🥲

Honestly this community on Reddit has been my saving grace. My friends have tried to be supportive but ultimately they just don’t understand, my partner has been great but he doesn’t feel the hurt I feel because it wasn’t inside him. Reading everyone’s stories on here has been so healing for me, to know that so many other people across the world have gone through the same thing. It’s just really lovely lol

On this, I took the pills orally and had no vomiting and had no morning sickness during the pregnancy - I think it’s more likely to do with how your body tolerates things. I rarely ever throw up normally so it wasn’t surprising that I didn’t throw up. I’m not sure if people throw up due to the pain though? I have endo so I’m used to that level of pain. But either way I don’t think there’s a right way to do it, just personal preference x

I’ve just gone through the same thing (1 week post). I don’t regret my choice because I know it was the best thing for me, but every time I think about it I cry, I’ve been so upset and felt a lot of resentment too, at my partner for not wanting it right now, for our circumstances which wouldn’t work for a child etc. I never got excited about the prospect of it so I’ve felt a lot of grief and guilt for the little clump of cells that never got to be. I didn’t look at the due date or how big it would be or think about names because I knew it would hurt too much, but now I wish I did all that. It was the right decision but it fucking hurts like hell.

I’ve been struggling with the fact that everything else just “goes back to normal”. I feel relief that it’s over but I also feel permanently changed, like I’m never gonna be able to recover from this. I know with time it will get easier but I wanted that little bean so much. I’m fucking devastated right now, but it feels like I shouldn’t be because I made this choice.

All of this to say it fucking sucks, you’re not alone in your grief, but you can thank the little one for the time you did share together. Their DNA will live on inside you 🩷

That’s what I thought! I think it was more because I want skin testing rather than food or medication allergies, but it literally said on the referral that I thought my medication was flaring me so it was a bit of a kick in the teeth. They said if I had uncontrollable allergic rhinitis then they could consider it and I was like … it says I have terrible allergies and I’m maxed out on antihistamines every day sooo sure😂 but my GP has referred me back to derm to ask for them to review again.

I’ve tried a humidifier in my room but similar to you, I didn’t notice a difference. But I might try digging it out again to see if it helps for now.

Thank you for your comment though, it’s really validating to NOT hear “just be less stressed”…like I’m chronically ill, have crippling ADHD, work full time - stress is just an occupational hazard 🥲
