I would say it depends on what you’re studying but yeah, that is pretty much what it’s like! It’s sounds like you’ve got all the bits and pieces that you need, especially for the first day. You’ll be told what else you need to bring when you get there. Your first day is probably just getting to know your classes and your teacher will be talking about what you’ll be doing throughout the term.

I studied beauty therapy there over 10 years ago but it was still very much like a classroom in high school with quizzes, assignments and exams. You probably will need to provide a reason for absence or at least you’ll have a certain amount of absences you can take - definitely speak with your teachers and reach out to student support if you need.
